Balmora in oblivion ?!?!

Idk about other people, but my favorite city, in all of morrowind was Balmora. I was thinking of putting together one, But my modding experiance is limited, to limited to do it -_- That why I'm putting up a request for someone to make one, maybe one as a modders resource? I dunno, just a thought.

You'd pretty much have to redo all the buildings from scratch as anything from morrowind is copyrighted and cannot be used in oblivion (even if the same company released both, people may not have bought both). There is however hope. http://oblivion.silgrad.com/

As I'm sure everyone was a fan to some extent of the balmora style of buildings, they'll probably be the first to do anything related.

You stated that Balmora is copy righted under Morrowinds copyrgiht, if so, why is riche parkeep mod allowed? or even the caldera mod? Those are from former TES games?

He meant that you aren't allowed to convert the balmora building meshes/textures from Morrowind to Oblivion. New ones will have to be created.

But for now, there's Caldera.

Ahhh. I see. Well, We could do it? I dunno, it would be hard tho -_- It could be a modders resource, someone just did the whole solsium(misspelled shut up -_-) map as a modders resource, I belive it was skycaptain. But ya, balmora!! >:)

I was actually planning a large mod that puts in various cities, quests, dungeons, NPCs etc. from Morrowind into Cyrodil but, as said, there are often cases where you need to make a new object from scratch to make it look anything like the original. The Seyda Neen lighthouse for example. There's not even a Bravil style building that resembles it.

Exactly. And as meshing tends to be very labor intensive and restricted to only those few people with access to the programs, someone just coming along and making it for the hell of it is a rare chance. As is there really havn't been any large scale building resources released that weren't largly just retextures which were part of another mod. One of the mods I've been wanting to do involves a large city with a unique feel to it, and I really couldn't even get started because of the lack of resources which are available (Seriously, it's between the skingrad retexture (which requires the mod containing those buildings to be present) and the Akavir style (reasonable portion being a retextured Bruma)(which also requires the mod containing those buildings to be present)). Ergo, I would have to do all the meshing/texturing myself or find willing individuals to do the work. As both aren't gonna happen any time soon, and I wouldn't expect it to, I'll have to wait till I have the months to devote to modeling before I can get started. Doing my own city, or a remake of Balmora I'd still be in roughly the same position. The main advantage of Silgrad is that they already have a team devoted to churnign out new models, so they are the most likely to do anything similar enough to Balmora if not Balmora.
