Maverick827
I turned off all of my mods and it still happens. Sometimes I can't even Tab to cancel, and once or twice the game even froze entirely. It hasn't always been like this, but I can't really pinpoint when it started (e.g., after installing a certain mod). Does this happen to anyone else? Does anyone know what's going on or how to fix it?
Indal
I noticed that when i wait during the day or a bit before the sun rises. My hypothesis is that the game is struggling to load the Shadows that are casted while also trying to switch to their proper positions to match the hour of the day?Do you feel that "Choke" during night waiting time or indoors as well? Maverick827
Yeah, it looks like that's it. I went into an indoor cell and waited and it was fine. It is better at night, though not as smooth as indoors. I guess I just never waited outside before, though that seems unlikely.
Vagrant0
Mostly related to AI actually. The game uses periods like waiting and fast traveling to update NPC behaviors, packages and background simulations. It's less of a problem when in interiors because when inside the majority of those NPCs are at a lower processing priority than they are when out in the world. Every settler is another persistent actor that has their actions simulated, and why most of this slowdown occurs at times where settlers are either waking up or going to sleep.
