Sypron
I downloaded nifskope A while ago. I think it was so I could do some retexturing work. I later discovered it doesn't actually do textures, or maybe it does and i don't know how. Anyway, i've been hearing people are using nifskope for editing meshes. Can it really do this? What does Nifskope actually do that I don't know about? PS: I put the topic in modding because modeling is modding related.

Abramul
As far as texturing goes, I specified where the path can be changed here. You can probably find a more detailed description somewhere else, though. A few of the things NIFSkope can do would be:Tweaking the location of one or more verticeschanging a model's base scale, rotation, and translationMaking portions of a mesh transparentChanging physicsCopying and pasting a piece from another meshetc
Sypron
So, if I learned how to use it a bit I could, say, make a dagger thats held backwards?
SickleYield
If you wanted to do that. :) I use it for editing materials settings often, because it renders more like the Oblivion game environment than Blender can and I'm still pretty n00b with Max. It's often used to make up the shortcomings of the Blender .nif export scripts in order to make meshes that actually work ingame, or make custom meshes double-sided. People also use it to make cut and pasted versions of existing armors for somewhat new shapes (This is what my first mod was, and OOO has a couple of these).
