fmehner
Work Around:Mods not loading, or unselecting once game starts Greetings all, I'm new to this mod community, so Hi. But I was also having problems with loading mods into nexus for Fallout 4. This is the work around I had to use. Skip video if you already did that part. Work around is bellow it. Assuming you have fallout4prefs, adn fallout4 documents files properly set continue. If not check this out: Anyway to the work around.Step 1: Where ever you see "yournamehere" this is the name of whatever user profile you have on your pc. Locate: C:\Users\"yournamehere"\AppData\Local\Fallout4Find the files "loadorder" and "plugins". Step 2: Open "loadorder" see if it shows "Fallout4.esm" followed by all the mods you currently have installed. If yes proceed to step 4. If not go to Step 3. Step 3: a. Open Nexus mod manager. Select Plugins, use the green checkmark to Enable all inactive plugins. This should right all plugins into the loadorder file. Check it. If all files you wish to load are listed go to Step 4.b. If not, right click "loadorder" uncheck the box for "read-only" Repeat part a.Part c. If everything is now listed change "loadorder" back to read only. Step 4: a. Open "loadorder" Select all and copy.Open "plugins" file, replace all with the copied text from "loadorder". Save and Close.b. If not, right click "plugins" uncheck the box for "read-only" Repeat part a.Part c. If everything is now listed change "plugins" back to read only. What this does. This Makes the game always load the plugins listed in both files. Sometimes Steam, Fallout 4, or Nexus is rewriting the files to be blank. Or only contain: "Fallout4.esm". Thus making them read only prevents rewrites. Manually checking the lists to load is what I had to do to get fallout 4 to keep mods. I only use a small amount of mods so far (20) So adding a few at a time is no problem. Hopefully we can figure out what's going on so we don't need a work around when moding 100 mods at once lol. I hope this helps,Fmehner Edited December 7, 2015 by fmehner

PaleoRockon
I did this but mods still don't work. I think it's because there was be a pop-up box when I started Fallout asking for permission to ignore read only on plugins.txt. I clicked yes do that, and don't bother asking me in the future. How can I reset that (bad) choice? thanks.

How can I reset that (bad) choice? thanks. I'm having a similar problem where the Plugin file gets scrubbed when the game starts. I can literally watch it happen if I have NMM open to the plugin tab and watch all the check marks being removed. The odd thing is, it only happens about 50% of the time. And I can't figure out what the pattern is. I've confirmed that Loadorder and Plugin both match and are marked Read Only. Any help that someone can give would be greatly appreciated. I finally have some time off from work so I was hoping to play a little Fallout 4 :)
Oshinasti
Same issue. All our 8 mods are checked/enabled in MO2 but when we launch the game and go to the load order, 2 mods are Unchecked, Unofficial patch and Mary Jane mod. Both those mods do not require anything except the base game for them to work. What's the deal? If a mod is 'unchecked' in the games load order, does that mean the mod is not activated? As long as we've enabled the mods in MO2, does it matter if they have a check mark in the game?We really need to know if that unofficial patch is working or not, yeah?
