Cookie000
... Or use the pre-patch Fallout4Launcher.exe. If you can find it...
Drivenbydiamond
No matter if I use the Fallout4Launcher.exe or the Fallout4.exe, it still brings up the launcher menu and resets my plugins
pussnbootlp
I been using this fix since the 1.2 but when I try it on the beta 1.4, games will launch and after select what I left off, or even create new character, the game will crash.

AceGoober
In addition to starting Fallout 4 with NMM, if you download and install F4SE and run Fallout 4 through the F4SE launcher it bypasses the Fallout 4 launcher all together which doesn't alter plugins.txt. Ensure that Steam is set to keep the game up-to-date. The latest Fallout 4 non-Beta version is 1.4.132.

steve40
I simply use Fallout 4 Mod Manager. It automatically keeps my plugins.txt file read-only and prevents the game launcher from overwriting it. Even though this mod is no longer supported, it is simple to use and suits my needs perfectly.
