Sypron
Hey guys, I just picked up my 2nd copy of Oblivion. Yes, I was not careful and kept my game disc in a shoddy case (don't let this happen to you). So, anyways, now I'm going to re-install the game with minimal mods and the RIGHT patch. So I'll need some help on the following topics: -I wish to use Fran's and a few OBSE mods. Which Patch should I use?-I wish to use ALL of the DLC's, does KoTN require a patch that isn't Fran's compatible?-I belive i've asked about fran's and SI already, but what about OBSE?-I do want to try beeing a (battle)mage, what decent magic mods are there?-What Order should I install things in, so I don't get those damn patch-related "File not found" error messages. Thanks
Sypron
Well, I've hit a bit of a snag. I'm not very patient so I went ahead and started. Frans and OBSE seem to be compatible with the most recent oblivion patch and SI patch. I installed oblivion, thats fine. I tried installing oblivion patch (1.2.0416) and it just freezes at 0%. So I downloaded the North American Version instead, same thing happened. SO I installed SI, worked fine, installed SI patch (1.2.0416) and that worked fine to. But the oblivion patch that is compatible with OBSE won't work! Any ideas? SCRATCH THAT: I'm an idiot, i've got it working now. But I still would like to now a good magic mod. Anything will do. Povuholo
There's the big magic mod Mighty Magick, but it is incompatible with SI. He forbid anyone to edit anything to make it compatible, but a few days ago he allowed it. I don't know if there's an update yet. I don't like Mighty Magick much, because it makes magic a little too mighty. I was able to kill an Imperial Watch Guard (with the unplayable armor) with the standard fireball spell, at level 1 with equipment from the prison. Right now I'm using this and this, and they work just fine.
Vagrant0
-I wish to use Fran's and a few OBSE mods. Which Patch should I use?1.1 patch is recommended since it's the only one that really works without problem. That way you can also use all of the mods you want to use without being too concerned about updates. -What Order should I install things in, so I don't get those damn patch-related "File not found" error messages. If you HAVE to install SI, make sure you don't use any downloaded patches before you install SI, and only use the form ID fix patch after you've installed SI. Patching normal oblivion to 1.2 then installing SI has been the source of a few problems, and usually breaks your installation.
SickleYield
Hasn't broken mine yet, and I installed the patch first. (shrug.) But I used the official release of the patch, not the beta.
