Phaphyntr made a YouTube videos of an episodic series about Dragon Age: Origins, which is displayed as a compilation of cutscenes and dialogues, and putted it into an interesting sequencing orders giving a unique experience of watching a new form of movie about Dragon Age: Origins.

I got half-way into the 1st and the three big Ostagar cutscenes weren't there and then seeing the gender and appearance of the PC...

I persevered through all ten episodes (skipping the credits). The concept was interesting, but the real thing... Well, I don't want to criticise, but constructive criticism is good, so I will share my humble opinion: the mixing of chronological orders does not do the series any good. Flashbacks are tricky to pull off correctly and here, they were just confusing (at least for me). The Warden looked odd to me (slightly remindful of Ciri from "The Witcher"), made choices which somewhat clashed with each other. But the thing that made me particularly disappointed was the alteration in Leliana's appearance. I only recognised her by her voice :ermm:. The way conversations between the Warden and the companions did not convince me, to be honest. Like Leliana first asking to come with the group and then standing in the same place in Dane's Refuge to talk about her tales. I am very sad to say that, but the longer I watched, the less excited I was. The concept is brilliant, but its execution did not sway me.

There is another machinima channel, the Wanderers of Thedas (https://www.youtube.com/user/wanderersofthedas/videos). There are only a few, but:

- those are custom stories,

- the conversations are carried out between companions and NPCs alone, so there is no immersion breaks when the Warden is mute,

- they are extensively created in the toolset, so the locations look unique enough.

Those are mainly comedies. "Blackout", "Working the Puzzle", "Walking Brewery", "Loose Dwarves" and "Caught on Trap" in particular are really well-staged. The author must be good with the toolset.

I will probably give the first series a second chance when another season will come out, but I can't shrug off the feeling of disappointment. I hope my opinion does not offend anyone.

Thanks to Phaphyntr for all the effort! I guess it's a very ambitious project and I love that idea. Actually I think about something like this since I started to play this game. But I am afraid, due to the fact that I am an ugly little perfectionist, that I won't realise ever that plan - unlike Phaphyntr. Kudos!

Well, concerning the order of the scenes, especially all these flashbacks, I am a little bit confused. I suppose there must be a kind of system, but I cannot find out. It looks like random. Furthermore with the trailers for every part it's more like a serial, less like a movie.

And here comes a further impertinence of mine: I would like to have a placeable main character, which means to see my own warden instead of the shown one, just like during any mod...

Good luck for Phaphyntr for the further project!
