KittenAvenger
I just installed FO4Edit and tried editing the duration of the stealth boy to increase it from the default 30 seconds to 120 seconds. I followed a video on youtube and I think I did it all right and loaded it in NMM, however while testing it in the game it does not seem to work or reflect any changes. Is this a bug in FO4Edit or am I missing something?
KimberJ
a mod already exists that does that, difference in quality from someone doing this for 6 years or more an someone that just wants to learn, in either case it's not a cut an dry edit, there's testing an debug after that, but at first apearence I would say you made a mistake an it's usually something simple, indigestible durations need to be precise an suffer some glitches in that is the way they work, further injectibles can launch a effect, that launches an effect an ties into something else, with scripts an generic quests besides hardcoded data in the .exe for the game matched by how the GECK for example operates upon . Insert wall of text. Until you figure it all out the result is that you made a mistake, an have to either start again or diagnose it. You could also share the file for inspection maybe even with attachments here, though keep them small we are only allowed a megabyte of storage for those an someone hard to figure out how to apply them inside board, at least here you could email it to me at [email protected]
KittenAvenger
So is there any guide or tutorial on how to start modding and testing?
KittenAvenger
I compared to the other mod and the mod file was exactly the same except for the description, changing that made it work strangely enough.
KimberJ
Well the Geck does warn on things in names an descriptions, FO4 edit doesn't do that. You could be my padiwan until we or you found a better jedi master, for lack of a better description. You could follow thru learning how to mod Skyrim, while playing FO4, a very good plan to balance learning an playing, often playing isn't an option, but in the past this worked great, play one, mod another. http://www.creationkit.com/Main_Page would be your main resource an various social interactions with people like me who know all kinds of crazy stuff, or specialist, social activity between us, an places like the offical bethesda forums, and along the way. Then https://www.fallout4.com to fuel your passion for the game in the vast amount of content there one would have to explore the site often just to find it all, some is inspirational for moding an most inspirational for playing, along with the archives at the bottom left of the site updated to match the fancy new FO4 version. A month out, nothing would be more important to a gamer than to fully explore this site spread out in a regular mini exploration over a period of time.
