deangelis7
when I played standard DAO without any mods and DLC it was challenging and interesting even on Hard difficulty setting. Then I started installing all official DLC and also unofficial mods like Improved Atmosphere and others. I've found that now I got many items (weapons and armors) which make game very unbalanced and more easy. Some items are "uber" and it gives player extremely advantage. It's very stupid especially when you can get this item even on first stages of game (1-5 level of your character). :down:Is there any way to get rid from this stupidness?? maybe there are some cool mods helping to provide good balance for items in DAO?? mcgoy
So you installed God items and now they are overpowered? Who would have guessed? You can remove the mod or disable it. You can sell the items that you find overpowered. You can destroy the item by right clicking on it and then choosing to destroy rather than equipping it. mcgoy
Improved Atmosphere is not a mod that I play. Feel free to destroy the items if they make you unhappy, it is easy enough - just open your inventory........
Thandal
Or just don't equip the items you feel are overpowered. "Player Agency" is a BioWare goal. That includes "Player Self-restraint", when failing to exercise it detracts from that player's enjoyment.

DLC items are EXTREMELY overpowered and unbalanced. The DLC also over-levels you. The basic game on nightmare without any DLC is pretty well balanced and provides a decent challenge for most of the game. The DLC completely ruins that and turns it into a cake walk even on nightmare. Yes, you can just destroy the items but then why even bother playing the DLC at all. I suggest you just turn off all DLC and play the base game. Or try the increased difficulty mod. I just tried Ravage's Dragon Age Origins of Diablo and its an OP bug fest. I cant get a matching set of random armor to save my life. I dont recommend that one if you want a harder game, dont waste your time. Thandal
Wait? What?!? Did BioWare figure out to to reach through the interwebz, twist your arm, and MAKE you equip your characters with (subjectively) overpowered items? Man, I missed that patch. Pretty amazing! Simple answer: Don't like it? Don't use it. Sell it, stow it in the chest at Soldier's Peak, destroy it... Problem solved.
ripple
This game is already unbalanced in vanilla mode. An arcane warrior/blood mage is completely OP and breaks the entire game on nightmare difficulty. So saying that a few DLC items makes the game "unbalanced".... IA is modularDLCs can be toggled off But like Thandal says, you should just ask your friend, Ms. Self Control, to help you out. I don't know where I'd be in life without her constant guidance and help.... Edited January 15, 2016 by ripple

So saying that a few DLC items makes the game "unbalanced"....don't agree. in vanilla mode game is ok.. of course there are always some things for improvements but difficulty of vanilla game is good for me. Although I never picked blood mage so I don't know what are you talking about.unbalanced game is only with DLC and additional items. I like DLC and other quests and mods so I don't want to "turn off" all of them. Now I just don't use very overpowered items and increase difficulty of game with some cool mods (like http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/320/? in my own edition)

Although I never picked blood mage so I don't know what are you talking about. You don't know what I am "talking about" because you never chose to play a blood mage, much in the same way that you can choose not to use the DLC items (incidentally, there are countless YouTube LP videos, guides, and online discussions about Arcane Warrior and Blood Mages, so you could have did some research on your own if you were really interested in understanding what I was "talking about"...). The vanilla game is balanced/"ok" if you choose not to do things that would make the vanilla game imbalanced--that doesn't mean it's inherently balanced. Anyway, it's much, much too late to be talking about whether this game is balanced or not because Bioware most assuredly will not be releasing any more updates for this game. So good job exercising your ability to choose what you can do and not do in game to make it a more enjoyable experience for you.
