Qlippoth
Hello, I am a big fan of Morrowind, so I decided to get its predecessor, Daggerfall. The problem is that it requires DOS, and i have Windows XP (the last Microsoft product I'll ever buy.) Windows XP is not compatible with DOS, but it had some rather slack instructions for creating a DOS bootup disc. I did this, and restarted my computer with the disc in the drive. It started up in DOS, and the first thing it said was A\: That's it, juspt A\: and a place for me to type something in. I can't figure out what to type here, as my disc didn't have a name or an option to name it. Can someone please tell me what to do? I tried to get support from the microsoft website, but they want customers to pay for technical support because they're just that evil. It's not like they need the money anyway. Thanks for reading my rant, and please help me if you can.

SothThe69th
Windows XP can run Dos, you just have to set your compatibility tab way down (like windows 95). Barring that, in Dos, you can type 'dir' to see the contents of a directory, and 'run' to run a program.
Guest Abyssian_angel
The funny thing is, I tried the compatibility mode and it doesn't work, because all compatibility mode does is map Dll calls from Windows 98 (Example) to the relevant function in XP. You could try a little program called VDMSound, which I have found to help running old DOS games on windows XP. One last thing, DOS commands, you obviously haven't used DOS before, am I right? DIR lists the contents of the current directoryDIR [Directory] (IE: DIR c:\windows) lists the contents of the directoryCD [Directory] changes to that directory if you could be bothered, usually adding a /? after any command will give you what is called HELP
