RadResistant
Hello all, Relitively new to all this modding stuff but have the mods up and running that I want barring the fact that one mod seems to be being wiped out when loaded. I assume this is related to load order and I tried a tool called LOOT ; however LOOT no matter what I did I could not get it to find the Steam version of Fallout 4, I tried dragging modules around in NVM but this although NVM seems to support dragging and dropping didn't change the load order. What tools do you guys use to change the load order for the steam version of Fallout 4 as I'm either doing something wrong or some of the tools are broken. Cheers in advance. Last question: what other versions are there...from your perspective ?If 4 is asking too much cuz I want to know...what you think about all this if new to modding...? then I'll give you an answer...tic for tat.. 1) http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1564/?2) I learned about loot on Nexus ; however could not find where to leave a message about the problem I have encountered on the Nexus page related to LOOT3) My bad eye's - that should be NMM but having an eye infection - probably from to much gaming I misread it until I zoomed in and read it again.4) I don't know that there are other versions ; I am assuming there would be a retail version that comes on some sort of optical media though and may not be updated through Steam. I downloaded the 64 bit version of loot and I found the reference in the registry that it referred to - but no matter what I did I could not get it to pick up where Fallout 4 was located - and yes I know where the steamapps directory is and yes I did try and specify it myself and it still would not find it. While I maybe a newb to modding I have been in the IT industry for 40 years and thus am not an ID10T. :)
Purr4me
Nmm is designated to sort load orders for fallout 4 to date, and it uses Loot depository for that game. Currently, there are many posts to date about some flaws still in (WIP) dealing with NMM...it's an issue...still. Every thing here for "fallout 4" is currently in beta / Alpha stages. So there are problems known. The questions are not meant to be demeaning in any way, they are to clarify the post only. Has nothing to do with your abilities. So, what left to discuss is the OS you currently are using...where exactly the game is installed at...and IF you are IT trained ? are group settings Enabled there on that OS? It matters a lot. A better way to show me whats going on is to screen shoot the selection process of NMM OR Loot's functions when assigning these applications to Directory targets. This is purely technical discussion only, to determine your issue as best we can. It's not a witch hunt..your here two day's and the post...was questionable at best Other Wise i would have not asked anything. A little bit of green has 4 basic main files available to download...so, now other than usual questions, I have to ask how you downloaded them and when? try to be as informative as possible in order to gain correct advice from us here...You and I are not the only ones here so any thing we derive from this discussions will be used by others...understand..? Purr4me
The DVD's are Irrelevant as all of the data is installed directly fro DRDL. (Digital Rights Down loaded), the only true source for Fo4 IS Steam. Retail disc's were made because some things were in motion before publishing that no longer matter, you own Frisbee's, coffee cup place holders. all steam. Purr4me
Additional information of use, " A little bit of green" has No plugins to see so there won't be any targets to view in Loot to begin with. that should answer your inquiry Kitty Black
RadResistant
So from what you are saying there is no way to manually control which of my mods gets loaded first?
Purr4me
So from what you are saying there is no way to manually control which of my mods gets loaded first? Relitively new to all this modding stuff but have the mods up and running that I want barring the fact that one mod seems to be being wiped out when loaded.( NO ), I answered the quoted section of the inquiry after verifying the subject matter you posted. currently some posts made by other members have discussed this issue about this subject with claims no need for any load orders are required...But then, that would defeat the need for Loot.."period" for this game. your "install order will control the load order by install order IF you have the template that's used By loot's team for this game. Is there a template Nmm uses? I do not know as I do not use that program, I use Mod Organizer By tannin42 version for Fo4.It in turn uses Loot derivative and updates when launched so i know for a fact if any data exists with the loot program, it pulls it from that SVN site same as Loot stand alone does and NMM does. That second quote shows you are running with no issues, the first one shows a user error, a mistake of yours. the rest of the post is still wishy washy ..as It appears as though you mean these tools can't find steams / Fallout4.exe in a game folder...means ?? I have no idea...so..as you did..I assume the mods were meant as the targets cuz other wise? there lay's big questions. I asked questions to give you an opportunity to sort it out "better". however LOOT no matter what I did I could not get it to find the Steam version of Fallout 4,looks kinda funny ? RadResistant
Thanks Kitty black for the information on the tool that you use, I have figured out one thing using NMM which was that if I disabled Fallout 4 Texture optimization project - TOP - 1 of 4 that a little bit of green would then work.I have made the assumption therefore that using the tool you have specified that I can set a little bit of green to load after TOP and avoid the issue. I didn't think to use a Fallout 3 tool as I was concerned that the file format may have changed and was wanting to avoid possible corruption. I did attempt to place a larger response than my one liner that I did respond with but while trying to upload detailed information in the form of .jpgs managed to kill the entire post. I am running Windows 10 home 64 bit Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.17) on an ASUS G751JY laptop with 32G Ram - GeForce GTX 980m.I have no problems running everything flat out on full detail. The Steam directory for Fallout 4 is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4.By group - I presume you are referring to the groups which Fallout 4 belongs to - which is where things fell down while I was trying to upload a .jpg.I presently have 25 mods installed.I did not know that the retail optical media version was basically just a base installer for Steam - I buy everything digitally as I have no need to maintain a large library of round flat donut shaped cup coasters accept for Linux test media. As for loot regardless of if I let it search for Fallout 4 automatically or specified the Steam directory manually I always got the same result, although the key was in the registry under: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\bethesda softwerks\Fallout 4 and referred to the installed path as being C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\ it always reported the same error being that my file was invalid.I have just worked out how to fix this though... After disablingFallout 4 Texture optimization project - TOP - 1 of 4 and then a little bit of green - I re enabled a little bit of green and ran Fallout 4 exited, disabled little bit of green, re enabled TOP, re enabled a little bit of green and told it to overwrite when asked. Re ran Fallout 4 and not only is a little bit of green working but when I went back and ran LOOT to get the error code that it was reporting it now is working - go figure....
