Proboarder2712
* RESOLVED* So I just installed Fallout 4 on my main computer and none of the mods, plug-ins or texture replacers, work. I was playing on my travel pc, and was able to load my saved game from steam cloud or however they do it(saved games were modded). I'm trying to install most of the same mods on this computer and unless I install the mods manually, I can't get them to work. It wont matter but I've been able to make ENB files work on this computer. NMM says my files are installed and I can see them in my Data Folder. I have modified my Fallout4Prefs.ini and Fallout4.ini to add bEnableFileSelection=1 and bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= respectively. I have restarted my computer. Uninstalled Fallout and completely removed all mod files from my fallout directory then remove my document ini files. I uninstalled NMM at the same time making sure I only saved the zip files so that I don't have to redownload the mods. I have even gone as far as change the directories where NMM writes tracelogs, and mod /mod install directories. Before my reinstall of fallout I had tried validating my game again, clearing NMM cache, and re-downloading a few of the mods I would notice instantly if I start the game. Ive tried running NMM as Admin or running straight from SKSE(Having or not having SKSE makes no difference.)And yes I have changed my plugins file to read only but that wouldn't matter for texture replacers because they don't rely on ESM packages. AGAIN I can manually install my mods but installing with NMM produces no results. I am currently using version 0.61.3. I'm not sure if anyone has any ideas why this is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated. *Final edit... I went and reinstalled the game again this time on my C: drive. I then reinstalled NMM but ran the installer as admin. I'm not entirely sure what happened but one of those errors fixed all my issues. I can now install both scripting and texture mods with no issues. Finally I made the changes to my ini files but I did not have a Fallout4Custom.ini file even after making custom settings from the launcher. I can confirm that the game works when making changes to the Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini. Please be advised the game works but only after my 4th time following the tutorial step by step and having to either install on a different drive or having to run the installer with admin privileges. I know there are a few people who have had these issues as I've read of about 15 people having similar issues to mine so I hope this will help with troubleshooting. truthoutthere
There have been numerous posts about people having problems with the current NMM update. I've been experiencing the same problem as you. I've also been reading that others don't seem to have this problem. I haven't seen any posts from the NMM developer yet but I'm hoping they are working on this problem.
Confector426
I too, am having this problem. Been doing full manual installs to get anything actually done.
Proboarder2712
Bumping this post since its still relevant and people seem to still have issues even after the latest NMM patch. I'd highly advice you all to make sure your work has been performed properly then try installing a simple texture mod through NMM and manually, something that you will notice a difference right away. I'm on the 0.61.4 version of NMM and it still only installs empty folders into my game. My girlfriend has also started a new game on this computer and the mods don't install either. StoneDeadViking
I suspect my problem is the same as everyone elses and can only add that my game does not create a Fallout4Custom.ini file which seems to be a requirement for making mods work when using NMM. I have tried numerous potential solutions with no success at all, simply because I went from playing a errr.. loaned version to now post Dec.24, owning my own copy. eni819
Ditto to this... all of my ini settings are as they should be, however: About 25% of the time NMM simply does not active a mod when I tell it to. Deleting the mod from the NMM list and then re-downloading (or adding a downloaded file) fixes that problem when it comes up. Then, about 10% of the time NMM doesn't install all the files for a mod and I have to do it manually.

You don't need the custom.ini post patch. FYI; that file gets loaded when you do custom graphic settings. From gophers videos he showed you should be able to simply add the lines you want in the custom.ini, but from what we see here on the fourm, you don't need to. The top modders have told us that the custom.ini file is now the fallout.ini file. In case you want the custom.ini settings for some sort of troubleshooting, they look like this:Filename: Fallout4Custom.ini [Display]iLocation X=0iLocation Y=0 That is all it has inside it. NMM still doesn't load the mods if I add the proper lines to the custom file or to the fallout4 and fallout4prefs files
StoneDeadViking
Alright so I can ignore the lack of a custom.ini file, but even with fallout4.ini and prefs.ini setup the way they are supposed to be, the mods are still not loaded once i start the game. This is so frustrating  edit:Just noticed that when launching Fallout4 from the NMM it still loads the launcher, that's new, it used to load the game without the launcher before. I am so confused  Edited December 30, 2015 by StoneDeadViking
TorrentHKU
I'm getting this too. All the ini files have the tweaks, Fallout4.ini, Fallout4Prefs.ini, Fallout4Custom.ini. I've got the mods being stored on the same harddrive, so there shouldn't be Virtual Install problems with that. And yet, mesh/texture mods are working. Neither installing it via NMM nor even installing manually does it. NMM is also being weird and doing both, putting files in the VirtualInstall folder AND in the data folder.Though, now that I think of it, that may be the whole Virtual Install thing and symbolic links. Either way, it's not working for me either. Very frustrating indeed, I've burned a couple days hammering my head against this.
