DDProductions83
----If a Moderator can go delete the stupid one I posted in the fallout 4 mod talk section I would be grateful, I already edited it out but tags are still there, lack of sleep is f*#@ing with me clearly---- Ok for starters this is a rough sketch, just kind of a layout/idea I am going with for my space station vault in my quest mod. Just want to ping some ideas if anyone is game to laugh at my bad ideas  For starters the station would be located at the L5 point, rough sketches.. and by sketches 3ds max renders cause I can't draw http://i.imgur.com/pVKd11X.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wjHS3lR.jpg http://i.imgur.com/rKyaoCT.jpg Ok for starters, the top two rings would be rotating with each other to create gravity, each ring contains 6 small nuclear reactors, the central shaft works as a power conduit at the center. The diagonal tubes represent crawlspaces to the observation hub, the top dome shape. Dome 2 and 3 are the 'vault', which is not spinning but has gravity provided via a Micro-Singularity contained between the two lowest rings using a electromagnetic field mostly powered by the nuclear reactors. The cone dome at the bottom is the radiation shield. Hypothetical physics aside (Which feel free to have fun with, I've just been up a while so I'm all over the place) the station would constantly be getting pulled toward the singularity which for argument sake is exhibiting 1.1 gravitys at the lower level and .9 at the second level .7 third and diminishes toward the rings spinning. For this I will probably have the station rotating parallel to it's orbit at 2 rotations per day, which shouldn't be a noticeable gravity fluctuation for anyone inside. The top rings would be rotating at 2 rotations per minute. The idea is the people in the vault have no idea they are in space, until the obvious happens  So thought's Ideas? Doesn't have to be super feasible. Assume for sake of argument that the containment is possible and the black hole size is stable due to REASONS, or not if you want to have fun but that's a long road to insanity seeing as the black hole would slowly collapse on itself .. Oh well off to bed, look forward to whatever in the morning ish Edited December 12, 2015 by DDProductions83
rickerhk
The gravity field from the singularity would make the disks that are perpendicular to the central shaft, the 'floor' as far as people inside are concerned. Rotating the disks would tend to make the 'walls' that are parallel to the shaft, into the floor - so you have a situation like one of those carnival rides that you stand in while it's spinning. People inside will be constantly dizzy and have to fight to 'walk' from place to place on the disk. So no need for spinning.
DDProductions83
Ya part of my predicament is I wanted there to be a cool looking 'spinning' view outside the station from some point IE the two top rings spinning, but even placing them really far up wouldn't negate a gravity pull, if it did that would mean the falloff from the singularity would be steep and noticeable inside of a two level area so bleh. Was thinking about that when I went to bed. I am loathe to use the 'gravity plating' star trek approach, but might have to :(
