town3r
Hey guys! Curious to see if anyone else is having this issue. Fresh install of the game ran correctly. Tried installing a few mods after modifying the .ini files and it now crashes after startup. It will load up and you'll see click to continue and the Steam Overlay will pop up but then the game crashes to the desktop w/ no error message. I disabled all mods and it still happens. Uninstalled the mods and it still happens. Only Verifying game files fixes the issue and it replaces 3 files. I'm able to run the game after replacing the 3 files. It will load correctly if I modify the .ini files (Fallout4.ini & Fallout4Prefs.ini) but don't run NMM.

Blackbirdxx
I was having same issue, it seems to be related to the Plugin.txt file located in your steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data folder. Solution: Add the following to the first two lines of your plugin.txt file # This file is used by Fallout4 to keep track of your downloaded content. # Please do not modify this file. so it looks like: # This file is used by Fallout4 to keep track of your downloaded content. # Please do not modify this file. Fallout4.esm followed by all your mods, Full explanation below, which was how i got to this, hopefully NMM fixes soon: Nexus Mod Manager forces this file to be read only. But if you remove Read Only the game will not crash, but its over-written to: # This file is used by Fallout4 to keep track of your downloaded content. # Please do not modify this file. Fallout4.esm Effectively disabling all your mods. But if you manually add the addons by typing them, then make it ready only it works fine. My theory. Next Mod manager changes the Plugin Text File to be: Fallout4.esm FogOut.esp DarkerNights.esp NoObjectLimit.esp Busty.esp Craftable Armor Size.esp Safe SSEx.esp extendedLightsWS - No shadows.esp ShellRain.esp PreWarSafes.esp LegendaryRarity10.esp LegendaryAllDifficulties3x.esp pbs_deadly_turrets.esp OCDecorator.esp MoreSpawns_Medium.esp Crafting Workbench.esp MoreAmmo.esp And makes the file read-onlyBut Fallout needs the file to be: # This file is used by Fallout4 to keep track of your downloaded content. # Please do not modify this file. Fallout4.esm FogOut.esp DarkerNights.esp NoObjectLimit.esp Busty.esp Craftable Armor Size.esp Safe SSEx.esp extendedLightsWS - No shadows.esp ShellRain.esp PreWarSafes.esp LegendaryRarity10.esp LegendaryAllDifficulties3x.esp pbs_deadly_turrets.esp OCDecorator.esp MoreSpawns_Medium.esp Crafting Workbench.esp Crafting Workbenches - Ammo.esp Crafting Workbenches - Ammo Special.esp Crafting Workbenches - Pre War and Manufactured.esp BetterNightVision.esp

town3r
I think i figured it out.....rookie mistake I originally had Fallout, NMM, & Mods installed on HDD A but uninstalled Fallout and later reinstalled in on HDD B. Uninstalling & Reinstalling as well as moving the Mods over to HDD B seems to have solved the issue!
