Need help with material modding!

So..I've recently decided to try my hand at modding. I'm trying to get the eyes of the 'gas mask with goggles' to glow but am failing miserably.


I've created a _g.dds texture for the gas mask, placed it in textures/armor/gasmask (texture is all black except for the area that is supposed to glow ) I have custom normal,specular etc maps for it as well and they're working fine but the glow map won't show.


I've edited a bgsm I got from the glowing assault gas mask mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1782/?)


to point to the normal,diffuse,specular,glow maps of the gasmask , renamed it GasMask.bgsm and placed it in the appropriate materials folder but it doesn't work. The bgsm was modified using the Material Editor (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3635/?)


what am I doing wrong? :(
