skyquest32 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Yeah, is there a proper build so that each character dose not just end up with everything...you feel bad if you dont give them some things but I would like to play at least once with one that is not reguarded in game as everything. Yet you cant do certain chains without, maybe you were not intended to? What would a vampire spellsword have for skills? Also a werewolf warrior?
ironbender800 Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) all my characters are very specific builds and dont have everything (assume you mean perks and skill levels). I only train the skills and get the perks relevant to the type of character im playing or building. I kinda go by the philosophy "better to be great at one thing than mediocre at everything" also find if you build your characters that way they are much more powerful than they would be if you had a little of everything. My level 40 telvanni wizard absolutely destroyed everything. He was strictly invested into the related schools, alteration, destruction, conjuration, and restoration. along with enchanting and alchemy. Only time that character got into trouble was with large groups of tougher bandits when i would run out of magicka. downside of being a mage :( I didnt like using encnahting to get free spell casting. had i done that i would easily walk through the entire game without even thinking about the ememies. Boombro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Yeah, is there a proper build so that each character dose not just end up with everythingWait what? Skyrim does not have an auto perk/skill system like oblivion. And yes there is many. What would a vampire spellsword have for skills?Well, a normal spell sword will have: Light armor for mobility, Destruction for left/right hand, enchanting for gear and one handed sword. (duh.) you can use enchanted two swords or or sword in one hand and a spell in other. Since it a vampire, you may wanna make use of illusion magic for better CC. for other skills, conjuration make the build op and some spell packs make Alteration handy. Sneaking can be handy for not so tanky build to find a nice spot. a werewolf warrior? You can't be one in this game. Werewolves can't wear armor. Werewolves work for any build because it a transformation. Let go with warriors, they have a lot of build potential. A lightly armored one with a shield a and mace is a fun one, you can use bows and mix it a bit. Edited December 14, 2015 by Boombro
Signette Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 There are basically two ways how you wanna build your character:1. Imbalanced overpowered god (archery, sneak, smithing, enchantment, alchemy, heavy armor)2. Built for roleplay with various skills. Considering there's no more levelcap you can simply make skills legendary and farm more, and in time you can upgrade absolutely everything. I mostly prefer roleplaying character builds myself. If you want to build proper and viable Vampire (with transformation into Lord) or Werewolf you simply won't survive without mods improving those entiies because in vanilla they suck to the point being almost completely useless. There are great mods like Better Vampirism and etc making roleplay and survival with those types of characters very good.
Boombro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 suck to the point being almost completely uselessI disagree, my werewolf wreaks people to no end. faster than a horse and dame cool. Vampires are just meh upgrade though for magic casters. The best vampire mod for RP however, is vampric thirst.
skyquest32 Posted December 14, 2015 Author Posted December 14, 2015 (edited) Yeah my question is, how do you avoid doing everything? Is every character in keeping with the spirit of the game supossed to do everything? Is it exspected as the game is intended? If you are a spellsword and want to join dark brotherhood would need skills of a theif hence they will be bothering you to join that. if you have magic as one you are exspected to go to winterhold, so you just end up needing everything which bleeds into everything else, see the problem? Boombro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 Yeah my question is, how do you avoid doing everything?Don't do......everything. Let me explain with with two extreme examples. One of my favorite builds is one I call the arcane weasel. Skills: light armor, lock picking, sneaking (very important.) pick pocket. All schools of magic expect destruction, summons and illusion. The build is basic, I'm a mage thief who never fights and is a coward. You might ask:But what if you had to fight? What if something was blocking the way to the quest item?Grab the item and run away! Another one is a fighter that helps people with light armor, one hand, block and bow.I never picked a lock, never made a potion, crafted an item or casted a spell that was not a basic healing spell. Is it exspected as the game is intended? The game did not intend to do anything, it allows you. Is it exspected as the game is intended? If you are a spellsword and want to join dark brotherhood would need skills of a theif hence they will be bothering you to join that. if you have magic as one you are exspected to go to winterhold, so you just end up needing everything which bleeds into everything else, see the problem? The problem is you. Your own way of thinking like this is....well, odd. You don't need thief skills to join DB, not even sneak. Even if you had to, you don't have to join the TG guild to just get the green part of the tree. Do they offer trainers and traders? Yes, but that it. And they never say anything about you joining the TG guild, like ever. What are you talking about? My storm nord never went to the companions, my mage thief never went to the collage, my assassin was never in the TG and my dragonborn who can pick any lock never joined TG as well. You don't have to do them all in the same run.
Signette Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 suck to the point being almost completely uselessI disagree, my werewolf wreaks people to no end. faster than a horse and dame cool. Vampires are just meh upgrade though for magic casters. The best vampire mod for RP however, is vampric thirst. What difficulty are you playing on? That's ridiculous when my character on Legendary can devastate almost anything and has insane damage, but once I transform into werewolf, I get owned, 2 hit kills, low damage etc. In reality person in werewolf form must be atleast somewhat stronger and tougher than in human form. Not to mention vanilla cave entrance glitch (same as with Vampire Lord), specific mods don't make those forms overpowered, they just fix tons of vanilla bugs, add tons of variety and scale damage/survivability accordingly, to make those options viable and a balanced.
Boombro Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I don't play on Legendary, but adopt-expert. I always only killed sliver hand and bandits when I think about it. But it not useless, it better than horses, and cooler.
