To the skies! - mod idea for when the tools arrive.

This is simply a mod idea for most likely a team of modders to create when the modding tools are finally released.

Now after having a chat to Lancer Captain Kells we got into a discussion about the Prydwen and he mentioned other brotherhood airships that are possibly still out there but most likely destroyed and this got me thinking for a great mod idea.

Some spoilers ahead FYI

Now I've been playing Skyrim since 2011 and there has been some fantastic f***ing mods, which brings me to the airship idea as Skyrim has many different Airship mods itself and taking those aspects and putting them in Fallout 4 would be fantastic. Now my idea would be since there are many factions of the Brotherhood of Steel, including some like the Outcasts I thought that after the main quest line, when the factions you joined lived and the others died, a continued event would occur, which would be a new arrival of another BOS airship, which has landed in a certain area of the commonwealth. Their reason? simply to salvage and slaughter everything like the nazis they are. This BOS faction though is opposed to Elder Marxon so it doesn't matter what ending you chose you get a mission to stop these new BOS baddies. You go there you kill them and you capture the airship for yourself - story done. -edit- Even making them Enclave would be realistic since they really hate the BOS as well.

Now this airship obviously will be a player home, with crew quarters also for every companion. Also a non functioning Vertibird that you repair, that I'd suggest is docked at the back of the airship (this airship for lore reasons needs to be a lot smaller with only 1 dock bay) along with that is a new companion/vertibird pilot I would suggest one of those female Assaultron robots since they have some cool dialogue plus are humanoid and could pilot a vertibird more logically.

Now the major thing that has to be done is making it flyable - you go to the bridge use the controls which has you sit down looking out window (if in first person) and like the vertibird travelling if you zoom out, it gives you a nice 3rd person view. With up/down hopefully strafing controls and a forward/back commands flying would be awesome, with 1 use ability which is to land/take off - its design should focus like the Prydwen with a blimp focus, that way the airship when landing doesn't need a large landing zone, just a small one since a blimp is all top space and a small container at the bottom.

I really would like the vertibird idea to be implemented as well as if you choose to destroy the brotherhood, you are saying good bye to vertibird trips around the commonwealth which really sucks balls. :geek:

On that note an idea would be to have a linked storage in your vertibird to your airship that way you can call it down in the field to access your weapons and armor AND to request a new companion to be delivered to you from your airship if they are stationed there. I always wanted to be able to switch companions without having to travel to where ever the f*** I left them.

With a vertibird call ability I'd recommend an implementation to your pip boy be done instead of flares and also along with the request vertibird command a call airship command as well - what that would do is where ever your airship is sitting, or floating call the airship to your exact location (that you requested it from) it floats above you and a rope/ladder hangs down allowing you to climb aboard.

Another idea, one that would be a lot easier then the previous is a settlement build item which is an airship land platform or beacon (simply something to tie a rope to really), so you can build one in your settlements for you to land on - the purpose is when you are attached to the platform the airships workshop items are linked with the settlement - that way when ever you are tasked or discover a new settlement you can land your ship and "colonize" the land with your airships supply cache. :pirate:

Now I know that's a lot to take in, keeping in mind there is a f*** ton more I can mention such as...

  • Crew implementation - having synths/BOS/minutemen/railroad agents roam the airship etc.
  • Airship bombard ability - kinda similar to the minutemen artillery strike ability.
  • Gun turrets - since flying should be the main focus, having turrets would be realistic for defense on the move issues.
  • Power armor skin - as the previous owners are BOS or BOS Outcasts or Enclave, giving them a customized skin or different designed pieces would be easy.

So that's the idea, can't wait for the tools to come out, that's when Fallout will get way more interesting!
