i just hope you understand that the build there is completly devoid of any magic skills so you would have to rely heavily on scrolls and potions at the start. this also makes it completly devoid of a ranged attack, wich means you're going to spend alot of time up close and personal with the badys absorbing damage rather then avoiding it.

A good fighter/theif build:

Specialization: Stealth

Favored Attributes: Strength/Endurance (for the HP boost)

[Endurance]Heavy Armor (Daedric, Ebony, ect)

[Agility]Lightarmor (Glass)

[intelligence]Security (open locks)

[Agility]Marksman (Good for sneak attacks)

[strength]Longblade (Goldbrand, Crysmere, ect)

[Agility]Sneak (sneak attack, stealing)

[intelligence]Alchemy (Free Potions, Money Maker)

[Personality]Illusion (Chameleon, Paralysis)

[Personality]Speechcraft (Taunt, Bribe)

[Willpower]Restoration or Alteration for either healing/buffs or movility enhancement

This is a mixed build that can fight at either range or close avoiding damage at range or absorbing it at melee, its also capable of healing with magic or levitating and casting magical shields early in the game depending on wich magic skill you took, and with Illusion as a major/minor skill will be able to cast paralysis reliably fairly early in the game, and chameleon later on.

It should be noted however that at higher levels 40+ class and major/minor skills become a moot point and your skill set just determins how quickly you gain levels and what multipliers you get when you do, although even that can be moot with misc skill leveling.

In all reality choosing a class is just choosing wich skills will be at lvls 20-40 at the start of the game.

A good example of this jack of all trades is my old Dark Elf mage that finsihed the game wearing daedric (heavy armor) and weilding a daedric claymore his lowest skill was mercantile at a lvl of 63 and all his attributes were at 100. it was rather funny actualy, as i progressed through the game i just started finding this daedric stuff and wearing it cause it looked cool and by the time i got to the end my heavy armor was at 73 and my long blade was at 81 i have the endless amount of cliffracers and rats to thank for that, being under the sign of the antroch i reserved my spell points for levitating, water walking, mark/recall, and only offensivly cast at NPC's

It isn't a bad idea to do a bit of trial and error starting two or three characters and saving in separate games. The responses you will get to this post will vary according to preferences of those responding. The main thing to remember is that as he game progresses you can learn any skill to max. Opening doors without keys and being able to 'influence' people are useful early on in the game. Choose a couple of fighting skills and your preferred armour. Also, I tend to agree with Dragonfurey, it helps to do some magic without the need for lots of scrolls and potions. I am a fighter but still use Alteration, Mysticism and Restoration as major/minor skills.

At the end of the day, when you've tried a few alternatives, you will have your own view. It's so much a matter of personal taste.

Much of it also depends on what difficulty setting you are playing the game at. At an easy setting, it does not matter much what your original categories are, as you should be to get whatever stats you need to whatever level easy enough. At the most difficult setting, early survival requires more thought of the choices.

For my favorite build:(High Magic)

Breton

Sign of the Apprentice

Specialization: Combat

Favored Att: Strength and Intelligence

Majors:

Restoration

Alteration

Mysticism

Destruction

Illusion

Minors:

Heavy Armor

Medium Armor

Longblade

Blunt Weapon

Athletics

This gives you a ton of useful spells, and a lot of points to use them, while allowing the blades, armor, and athletics skill to aid in your advancement. (and they can add for a longer time since they start lower....) I was head of all that you named with this type of character.

I find that having all armour types in major/minor is realy a waste of time. If you don't plan on using both armour types, don't put them in. You could replace them with something that you use more often, such as athletics, and acrobatics, which wil help you level more often, and also, alot of factions use these.
