Vagrant0
Please help me, I've been playing Oblivion since it game out and love it just got into the mods but I keep getting .omod files and don't know what to do with them? can someone please help? They work with the Oblivion Mod Manager. Basically OMOD files were designed to be an idiot-proof way to install mods. In that all their contents are linked to the plugin, disabling it would also disable any additional files it adds. However this creates problems in the cases of things like armor, creatures, and other mesh related bits. Once a custom mesh is in use by the game it is a replacement, if you remove the mesh, you will end up with errors because it is still looking for the replacement mesh and not the default. Additionally when installing it, if there is already a version of that file in your data folder, that file will be overwritten with the one contained in the OMOD. If you later remove the OMOD, you will also remove the files linked to it, without restoring what was perviously there. Generally, you should refrain from using OMOD with large mods, or anything that isn't self-contained. In otherwords, nothing that contains replacement textures or meshes. For small mods which just change settings, or add items OMODs are a fairly useful as you retain all the files needed to reinstall them within the OMOD... But really it's not any better (can occasionally be worse) than just having a collection of .rar/zip files in another folder if you know how to install those mods. Sypron
I agree. I've always just got by doing things the old fasioned way with manual labour and a bit of colling-fan grease.

Povuholo
Double click on the omod file (Doesn't matter where you placed it) and it will be added to the omod list of Oblivion Mod Manager. Then select the mod in the manager, and click the activate button below.
Guest
Seems no-one is mentioning that you need to install the OMOD manager utility. I found it here: http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm_download.html.
