Combat Rifle replament idea

So I was a bit disappointed that the rifle selection in Fallout 4 was pretty much a hand held Lewis gun and a full auto hunting rifle. Since the GECK or whatever it will be called is a bit away I am toying with the idea of making a replacement for the combat rifle. I was thinking about breathing new life into the Service Rifle from New Vegas. Not to crazy and lore friendly but I think it would be a better fit than those options. Thoughts?

When the geck comes out replacements won't be necessary, we can just add new weapons into the lists, but me personally, I'd reskin the hell out of the Combat Rifle to look like a BAR.
