Trombean
Been wanting to play this game for a while, but it's been a struggle. Firstly, after I upgraded to windows 10, the game would simply CTD on startup. So I did a fresh install, deleted all files associated with Oblivion and tried again and it worked. Afterwords, I tried installing a few mods. I only used Ren's beauty pack, Robert's body and Younger Elf Voice. Spent 2 hours trying to figure out why Ren's worked but the other two didn't. Then I realized I forgot to activate archive invalidation in OBMM. So I did that... And then... CTD on startup. Sigh. Can someone help me out please? I'm frustrated and I just want to play. beldaran1224
You need to use BSA redirection - make sure that it is the method currently being used. For OBMM users:Start OBMM. Click Utilities. Select Archive invalidation. You'll get a popup window. Click BSA redirection (it's the default choice). Click Update Now. Close the Archive invalidation popup (click the red X in the upper-left corner). Quit OBMM or click Launch Oblivion. That doesn't really explain the CTD though, as a lack of invalidation just means you see the vanilla textures. Are you sure you did NOTHING else? What's your OBSE status? Also, what (if any) stability mods do you have installed? The Unofficial Patches? Are you playing a Steam copy or physical disc? Any information could be relevant. I have the latest version of OBSE installed and no other mods besides the ones I mentioned. The only thing I could thing of is that I began getting a CTD on startup immediately after upgrading to Windows 10. I left it alone for a while then did a clean install when I wanted to play it again. I'm not sure what exactly was causing the problem then or if it has anything to do with what's causing the problem now.
beldaran1224
I haven't installed Oblivion since upgrading to Windows 10. My best guess is a registry problem. Wouldn't know how to fix it, I'm afraid, but a google search might help.
