KimberJ
http://i895.photobucket.com/albums/ac156/grindedstone/2007-2013/bro.jpg From America 3D Studio Max - looking as the only option to break into animation after many years of Blender, but I'd have to check on the later versions of Blender as for FO3/FNV we used an old one because it was really fast. You know *ahem* not to mention the newer Blender doesn't open this stuff, an all the Skyrim players that figured out how didn't speak English to my knowledge. 3DS or Blender for these games is really just looking for tutorials to build a workflow to get experience. 3DS is mother f***ing $185 a month. If that gives you an idea of the price of the 3-4 tools at the least one would need to advance to the next level. Eat3D.com for example a DVD tutorial costs more than a tank of gas during a price hike. I believe there is a subscription streaming service though. We are really looking at participation in the beginnings of the Art & Design world though, a much more stable career than *ahem* *cough* video game development/art It is extremely expensive for anything one would do to break into a world of being able to make anything they want in virtual reality. From that I've gathered over the years, is the very reason it's so much work to put something into a Bethesda game. Also why so few people do it. Bear in mind it's not that hard once a person does it a few times or for a year for example, but as the example, breaking into that as a noob is impossible nearly. There's plenty of ways an methods, good luck finding them. Now I'm by no means discounting the usage of free open source projects that will do the same thing, but beginning soon after FNV launched, the quality level of this crap along with the community started to grow exponentially. To do that someone either has to be incredibly naturally talented, or shuffle along at the bottom along dragging "a son of a *censored*" of a ball an chain. Then eventually talented or not, one reaches a point where they need Autodesk, an tons of money or a .edu email account. I've looked at the prices of this stuff over the years or for example a ticket to get in the door of classes or the GDC (that's the game developers convention in America) I'll tell you, the prices for this stuff are so high, that I learned not to ever look. In the problematic nature of making animations & rigged an static meshes especially for Skyrim. It might as well be impossible for "s***stains" such as we are, being from the wasteland. i.e. not from TES, from circa 2009 on, a generation of f***headed s***stains. In case you wondered about the launch an subsequent modding of Fallout 3 an New Vegas, Pre-Skyrim. That's what it was like. A bunch of dicks in a bag pretty much, but even still a small part of what the community became later. Most gamers I meet are dicks, sorry. Me being from FO3 is another problem altogether going into a proper Art & Design community. We're so "gamer" here that it's best to not even speak to people in other worlds. I would guess because they don't live in TES or the Wasteland. We're not going to steal a license or steal a government regulated email account. There is hope in much less expensive subscriptions for pixel editing thankfully. But by an large the other required components to do it right would take all your money. I think I'd rather have a nice car to be honest. The main reason being that none of us going into that level would even know if we had talent in an area of game design that centers on talent an the ever present "is it good" Might as well be a writer instead. It's not new, I've had this problem for 2 years now. A damaged nerve in my wrist that made my whole arm ache in sharp pains. So you know, workstation ergonomics are way more important than anything we possible could or could not make. That being said, 2 years studying game design never hurt anyone, an doesn't require tedious work, while also being one the most high paid job one can get in the field. If you are not thinking about that you are either really smart, or really dumb. LOL On the other hand, Art & Design makes everything in our modern world. I hate thinking about it because it seems like for us being "S***stains" an all, that nothing is going to open that door into the world we more than likely belong in. From what I know of how it's done here, it's always a conversion game & some kind of workflow. Just remember it can be really fun in that moment it's put in the game. Use some kind of filter if you talk to a person in a different world, an get a real .edu address. Take Pictures, Kimberj
Matth85
I have absolutely no idea what this post was about. With that said. 3ds max got student versions which does not require a student email and they do not check it. If that helps your... uh.. problem... Or whatever. KimberJ
See the line that says every gamer I meet is a dick, just saying, :D even though I am just like you, you an nearly everybody else doesn't want me here. Nice job. Notice you didn't really say anything to help anyone, except for people that need a way to a version of 3DS that isn't the current autodesk one. Smooth. If you want to help, report this post as being a dribbling f***ed up bulls*** post, an replace it with your own, since you seem to already know it. But yeah, f*** me for trying. Have nice day. Matth85
Let's try again. Hello, my name is Matth. I am an experienced 3d artist that uses 3ds max and an upcoming c++ programmer. I have been modding since the CS in Oblivion came out, which includes fallout 3 and NV. Now. Your wall of text is not coherent. You are not asking a question anywhere, nor are you making a point. You keep saying gamers are dick - in multiple threads, while you are the one being the offending party. You complain about this forum, yet you are the one pissing of everyone. May I ask why? If you can churn down your messy non coherent wall of text into a question, then I might be able to help. and try to tone down the hostility. It shows bad character. jeffglobal
I have absolutely no idea what this post was about. With that said. 3ds max got student versions which does not require a student email and they do not check it. If that helps your... uh.. problem... Or whatever.I've used 3ds max like 8 years ago and am coming back to the 2016 version. Has things changed a lot, or I REALLY forgot the difference between my ass and a hole in the ground? I can't even assign a UVW map correctly anymore  It looks like the default settings to the stack modifiers are much less useful. Any video sources better than others, or I'll have to trudge thru it like last time? Edited December 27, 2015 by jeffglobal
Matth85
It got one, or two, overhauls since the 2008 version(Which was the first one I tried). But that's mostly related to the visuals, and graphical modelling tools. The UVW did get some aditions, but nothing gamechanging, over the years.So... it shouldn't be that different.
