Under the bed

In the day I lurk in dark corners, keeping away from light's borders.

During the Evening the shadows lengthen, while I strengthen, I move about from corner to closet and closet to under your bed.

You enter the room, with dreaded feelings of impending doom you are made ready for sleep, yet you weep as the elders leave the room.

You hear my breath and see my shadow, even though I'm still below, leave the shadows I shall not, even if the underside is full of your snot.

The night lengthens and I grow stronger still, gathering my will as you lie still.

I go from beneath your bed, since I long to see your frigtened head.

You cry out, with quite a shout, the light returns with a flash, I narrowly escape with a quick dash but still get a fiery lash.

You are assured the dark holds no fear, this stupidity brings to my eye a joyous tear.

The day approaches, yet again I hide in the corners with the roaches.

Tonight we will meet again, my young friend.

Under the bed, it creeps

Waiting until a child sleeps.

It emerges to scare,

And leaves nerves bare,

Forcing the prey to seek

The Guardian in his mystique.

This guardian is like no other,

Though, in fact, he is like a brother.

Seeking the darkness he searches,

Weilding a rod of light that stings like urchins.

Whom is he?

Only the father could it be.
