Fallout 4 shuts down.

The game turns off right at the moment of transition between the black and white load screen and bethesda logo to the main menu. That moment before the main menu opens the game turns off.

I set up the .ini files appropriately.

These are the following mods I am attempting to run.

I've also got this problem - at first it was maybe 1 out of 20 game starts, but lately its more like 9 out of 10 game starts. It normally doesnt CTD at the main menu after a full laptop restart.

Just some info -

Fallout 4 installed on SSD (250gb)

Windows 7 Home Professional

Using Nexus Mod Manager

4GB nvidia 980M

16GB RAM

Using Enb Boost

Normally I play on almost all Ultra settings except for Shadow quality and shadow distance. The CTD thing didn't really affect me for a long time but its started getting alot worse recently. I thought it could be an enb problem as the problem seemed to increase in occurence after changing this line in enblocal.ini "VideoMemorySizeMb=". At first it was set to 10000, but after reading how to properly adjust the figure its now set to 14000; however this still leads to CTD's at the main menu unless I do a full restart of the laptop. It gets worse if I've managed to play Fallout4 then exited then tried to relaunch the game - it will take several tries at this point to get past the main menu/ first loading screen.

What confused me was that even after removing all the enb files, it would still crash 9/10 after getting to the main menu/ first loading screen.

So I had a look at my mods list - tried to reorder my plugins because LOOT is still being developed. Didn't really help reordering the plugins. And all of the mods you've listed are ones I don't use - literally none of those are in my plugins list, nor do you have a single mod that I use, which leads me to believe it might not be a mod problem. I thought if there was at least one mod that we both used, that mod might be the culprit but it doesnt look like it.

Now I have no idea what to try.

Mod list just for reference:

Ninjafix.esp (Ninja perk fix)

Scroungerfix.esp

Foggy Rooms Defogged.esp

Fr4nssonsLightTweaks.esp

LovingCurie.esp (Simple Cuire face mod)

Companion Infinite Ammo & Unbreakable Power Armor.esp

betterpatrolmen.esp (changes Patrolmen glasses to CHA+1/ PER+1)

Calyps-BOS-booty.esp (changes mesh for B.O.S uniform)

ExpandedBallisticWeave.esp

meleeweapon_NameMods_EN.esp (from the mod - Armor Tag Sorting by Chronos 1172)

armor_NameTiersMods_EN.esp (from same mod as above)

weapon_NameMods.esp (same as above)

BetterItemSorting-AID.esp (from Better Item Sorting by Xandarori)

BetterItemSorting-MiSC.esp (same as above)

LogicalJunkWeight.esp

keyNuker_keys.esp

EferasShoulderBag.esp (from Wearable Postman Shoulder Bag or Backpack by Eferas)

AnS Wearable Backpacks and Pouches.esp

AnS Wearable Backpacks and Pouches - Ballistic Weave.esp

Update -

I've now gone ahead and disabled all my installed mods via NMM. I then removed all the folders that weren't Video/Strings in the Data folder, as per this thread:

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3606550-crash-to-desktop-ctd-cure-all/

And began to slowly reactivate all mods - one by one, starting the game and seeing if the CTD at main menu/loading screen still happened. I reinstalled all the texture/mesh/animation files first, as they seemed the least likely culprits. I then reinstalled each mod that came with an .esp plugin, one by one, and it seems the culprit is ExpandedBallisticWeave.esp. After installing that mod (Expanded Ballistic Weave by A Can of Win) the CTD seems to show up again. Now I'm not sure if the esp needs to be reworked? looked over by the mod maker or if its conflicting with another mod in my mod list.

I have a theory that it might be conflicting with the Vault Suit editing mods (which were installed first, and then Ballistic Weave mod was installed at a later date). In game I had applied Ballistic Weave (via the mod) to the 111 Vault suits and the B.O.S. uniforms (green soldier one) which might have started causing the CTDs. The only other mod which changes these suits is Calyps-BOS-booty.esp, which I had previously assumed was a simple mesh edit but I've no idea why it comes with an esp. I assume as the mod makes a point to only change the female BOS uniform - the esp creates a seperate BOS uniform in game which only women can wear - thus allowing changes to the mesh for women only; this then causes a conflict with the expanded Ballistic weave mod as it can't deal with the new BOS uniform created only for women. This is pure speculation though, the simple fact being, disabling Expanded Weave mod gets rid of my CTD's.

I'm sorry I couldn't help with your specific CTD crashes though - it looks like its simply a case of some unseen mod conflict which you need to manually track down using the same method:

Disable all mods, (don't unistall - just disable - don't uninstall)

go to this thread: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/3606550-crash-to-desktop-ctd-cure-all/ -> do as it says

then reenable mods slowly, if you have to, one by one till you find the culprit.

Good luck!

I had a CTD problem on saving yesterday. Turns out that the game didn't like that I'd disabled that better storms mod and the save must've been expecting it. Once I re-enabled the mod, the crashes stopped, so if you're crashing, make sure you didn't disable a mod that the game is expecting.
