New nif meshes crash the game

I've been playing around a bit with the fallout 4 meshes in 3ds max and decided to add a hat to a cat (cause why not?). So I made the had, adding a skin, bsdismemberskin in 3dsmax and moving the hat on a 'clean' cat in nifskope and giving the hat a 'clean' BSLightingShaderProperty (the way I would normally do this for Skyrim). After adding the cat to the game the game crashes upon spawning a cat. I'm pretty bad at this and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

 

Has anyone already worked more with this and knows how do this or knows something I could try?
