bturnbow
Hello Fellow Fallouters, I have a 2560x1440 FreeSync monitor running on a Core i7, 8GB RAM, Radeon Fury PC. I only have a few mods running right now for better stars, land textures, and PIP Boy resolution. I have the normal ini configs that most will have based on the well known tweaks out there. My problem is when I try running Fallout 4 on the native resolution at 1440p. Immediately after loading up the menu video runs (where it's closing in on the Mech armor), I can tell it's sluggish. My mouse movement is laggy. Playing in game is also sluggish and is especially noticeable when going between character dialog. When I switch to 1920x1080, everything is completely smooth as butter. I really don't suspect my video card to be the issue as benchmarks out there show I should be hitting 50-60 fps on 1440p. I've tried removing the few mods I have as well as adjusting the major graphical features (shadows, God rays, etc). None of these made a difference. I don't have my ini with me right now but stuff like mouse acceleration is disabled and uGrids were at 5. Nothing really special there. Anyone experienced this? I don't mind playing at 1920, but if you have a 27" 1440p monitor, it's always better to play at the native resolution :)
Degasai
Ouch. Just ordered parts for a new build with dual 1440p monitors. They do not support G-Sync or FreeSync. After researching both, I don't think my old eyes will be able to tell a difference (especially since I will always limit FPS on *any* game to 60 fps). Hope this problem doesn't show it's ugly head after I migrate to the new build. No Radeon for me, installing a 980 Ti 6 GB GPU. Just a thought: Latest Drivers for your Radeon? With FO4 out, those can change sometimes on a daily basis!
bturnbow
Yeah, latest ones were released on 12/17 and I just checked again. I can't believe it's the card as I played Witcher 3 at 1440p with no slowness at all. It has to be something I'm missing but just haven't figured it out yet. In case anyone is interested, here are my ini files. jones177
Hi I am playing at 4k with a GTX 980 ti sc & can average 54fps. The game is a rollercoaster when it comes to frame rate though. When I tested at 1440 on ultra the frame rate stayed at 60 or close to 60. When I start adding more mods I will probably drop down to 1440 like I did in Skyrim. Last weekend I ran the game with Fallout Performance monitor & was shocked at the results. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/1762/?Out in the open I was getting 60fps, but when I approached a city the frame rate dropped to 30. In the city the frame rate went back up to 60. In wooded areas with the frame rate at 60, looking through a sniper scope brought the frame rate down to 17. For 2 hours of play the frame rate stayed high but slowly dropped after that. My GPU & CPU were doing fine but my old WD Raptor was struggling. Use Fallout Performance monitor to see what your hardware is doing. Later
technowizard79
I assume you copied and pasted your INI files... don't know if this has anything to do with it, but your Fallout4.ini has two "uExterior Cell Buffer" lines in it. The one with "36" I believe is the default INI value; however, I believe the game is minimum hardcoded to 47. Just noticed this at a glance, and thought I'd mention it. Have you tried putting back in clean/default INI files (i.e. deleting and running the launcher)? Something worth trying if you haven't yet.
