I am almost giving up, still can't get mods to work...

I have read the guide, I think I have read all the relevant threads here. I still just don't get it. How hard can it be?

I have done all the very few things I am supposed to do (I think).

1. I have set the fallout4.ini and the fallout4Custom.ini (and the original ini file in the Fallout4 steam folder) to:

[Archive]

bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\

(I have also tried to set sResourceDataDirsFinal= as suggested, same result)

2. In the fallout4Prefs.ini respectivly fallout4Prefs_Custom.ini i Have added

[Launcher]

bEnableFileSelection=1

3. I use the Nexus Mod Manager 0.61.4), where I have downlaoded and activated respectivly mod.

4. I have checked the plugin.txt and compared with loadorder.txt. All there.

THE RESULT: I get a few mods, or rather some part of mods to work. For example, some part of "Armorsmith extended" must work, because I can wear a tuxedo under my armor. The "Full Dialouge Interface + Bhaal´s beter sorting" actually change the dialouge text and give me the sorting, but the interface is still the same old diamond shape (and yes I have choosen the correct version with numbers and brackets).

Exept for that, it seems, no texture files or sound, loose or connected to a esp package seem to affect the game. I have even tried to replace a existing texture file for a new one directly in the game data folder, without it showing in the game.

What else can I do? What the heck am I missing? What!? :blush:

(Sorry for spelling and language, not an english native)

So, ESP mods do work? Only the loose files do not load in the game?

If you do the new method of editing the inis -> "sResourceDataDirsFinal=" then you also have to add the line "bInvalidateOlderFiles=1" too, or else it will not work. So it looks like this:

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Someone had a similar problem and solved it by adding these lines in his custom.ini (but this is a very strange solution and i wonder why this solved anything at all, because it have nothing to do with mod support. lol ! but its worth a try)

[Display]
iLocation X=0
iLocation Y=0

Or you could just try to use my tool that does the ini edits automatically

Yes, that is the problem, I have done all what you say. And thanks, I have now tried your mod. But still no textures or other loose files working.

I had the same problem dude running NMM as admin fixed it. To test for it try moving a texture mod from your NMM virtual folder to the corresponding folders in your data directory =)

Actually, I just unistalled NMM and deleted the plugins.txt and the loadorder.txt. Now suddenly everything works. All the esp:s and all loose files I've added are still in the main data directory. I can't really explain why, but now "it just works". Magic!!! If anyone can explain what just happened here I am sure it would help a lot of people out there. :blush:

With the all the esp:s rechecked in NMM, and both the files plugins.txt and loadorder.txt existing (I rechecked them in NMM after they are unchecked when launcing the game), the logic in them seem to work. For instance the "More armor slots" works just fine being able to layer body armor over a toxedo, or what have you. The "True storms" mod works fine. Howwver, the "Chem_redux" mod, installed as an esp does not work. The textures in the mod does not show, just the vanilla ones. The same goes for any other loose texture, sound or whatever. They are gone. Same goes for the "Full Dialouge Interface". Text works but presented in the vanilla diamond shape.

Ok, so now I exit the game, and without ever closing NMM downn I delete plugins.txt and loadorder.txt (With the esp:s still checked in NMM). I restart the game from NMM again, load exactly the same save. And magic! The "Chem_Redux" textures are all there. Same goes for all of the other textures and loose files, like sounds. The "Full Dialouge Interface" works, it is now listed in brackets as it should. Problem is, now all the esp:s obviosly does not work any more. No more tuxedo under body armor, no more True storms.

This is conflicting. I can't have both the esp:s and the lose files all togheter. Maybe this has something to do with the invalidation of older files? But as I said befor, I have set the ini:s to the correct values (see my first post here).

To answer your question FlOW; The deleted files in the trashbin and the ones that are created again are the same as far as I can tell (Not to many esp:s installed).

Oh, and Nixsy; Running NMM as administrator does not work either. Same, same and not at all different.
