Blood and Wine, what you want to see?

Recommended Posts

Slight endgame spoilers follow.

So what kinds of things are you hoping to see in the Witcher 3's next expansion, Blood and Wine? Personally I'm hoping the expansion plays more like a true epilogue to the main story, where decisions you've made at the end of the main story could have a noticable effect on the game. For example if you finished the game with a romance option, they were present and acutally mattered in this expansion, as opposed to HoS. *Here's the spoilers you've been warned* Or if Ciri was no longer around at the end of the game, Geralt would be depressed at the beginning of this, maybe a bit of a drunk, or something similar.

Well yes, I want it to be an Epilogue too but I think expansion will be built in base game like HoS, they will simply add a new place which you can access pressing "space" button while looking at the map. So I wonder how they will do this, I personally will be very pleased if it will be an epilogue but there is the other option that it may be happened in an unknown time like HoS. Actually HoS is really confusing too you, simply I can not be sure which time it sets in, someone says entirely indipendent from main story but you know you can ask Yennefer, Triss and Ciri about your new scar... Summary is I am really confused man and really don't know what will they do with Blood and Wine.

The fact that HOS was so completely removed from the main game seemed almost lazy to me, at least by the standards CDPR have set for themselves. They've clearly put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game, and it was somewhat disappointing to me that your actions in the main campaign had literally no effect on anything in HOS, from what I could tell at least, aside from asking O'Dimm about Ciri, which is kind of a throw away line that most people don't even have the chance to see.

Though I tend to agree that HoS has no direct impact on the main game (which doesn't bother me) but there are numerous references to Gaunter O'Dimn in subsequent main /side quests of the vanilla game...which are really just small easter eggs. As for Blood and Wine, I simply want 20-30 hrs of play time that is fun. From what snippets I can gleam it seems that Geralt is due to visit a zone that is not at war for a change.

I guess what I'm looking for would something similar to the "Citadel" DLC from Mass Effect 3, or Trespasser from DAI . Both of those are great examples of how DLC can be their own independent story, but also be affected by the numerous previous choices across the game. the story of HoS was great, completely new, and interesting. But for example (attempting to avoid spoilers) why couldn't you recruit Olgierd or Shani for *that* big battle if they were still around at that time? Why does pledging your love to either triss or yen have no effect on whether or not you can romance shani? they don't even care about you potentially being in love with her again?

PS. The Shani thing is not a spoiler, her existence and romance have been publicized heavily.

I wouldn't mind that so much if it involved characters from the original story line, if that is your current world state at the time. If you weren't in a relationship with anyone else at the end of the game, then please by all means, make the DLC dynamic enough that is adjusts accordingly.
