Make the Vault Suit stronger?

Hello, first time posting here but I've got a question;

I've just started playing Fallout 4 and I'm using the Vault Booty mod and it's great. Trouble is, I'm only like an hour into the game and already it's the weakest armor that I have by a long mile - it's pretty much on par with the longjohns. Is there any way to mod it or use the console or something to make it stronger? I'd like to keep using it much longer into the game, and preferably without additional armors on top of it, but at this rate I won't be able to.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. :happy:

It is a valid suit of under clothing throughout the game. The key is using the armor pieces. You can wear other armor ontop of it.

For example when you kill raiders or people and they have leather legs/arms/chest you can put those on. You still wear the vault suit and it adds their armor values to your suit for that limb. There are suits of armor that take up your whole body however. The vault suit can be upgraded to increase it's energy and Radiation protection as well depending on your level of armor smithing.

ALL that said....you can look up the mod "Armorsmith Extended." It ill let you add ballistic weave directly to your vaultsuit. Which will increase it's physical protection.

Fonger, you cannot put that weave on the vault suit, unless you install a mod like this one:

But for me personally even that is not enough, I like to give all my settlers that weave as well, but since the game doesn't allow me to do this on certain clothes I decided to edit that mod to my own personal taste.

spoiler style hint

look into the railroad and its possible route to "ballistic weave"

Haha, that game element is as OP as MacReady's max'ed trait :ninja:

Speaking of that trait, I'm surprised Bethesda hasn't fixed that yet. It's game breaking OP.

Sometimes I have to resist using it...I just liked McREady and wanted to finish his story. Then I got it and I was like WTF O.o It make survival mode a little easy!

one of the sorting mods fixes it http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3877/?

MacReady's perk is actually bugged as it gives 2000% increase to headshots, and not 20%, to fix that use this:

And I just made my own little mod that makes ballistic weave only 1/3rd as strong as the original, I also found it way too overpowered and it honestly made armor useless, or if you have clothing with Mk5 weave AND armor you were practically invulnerable.

Hmm. I doubt that Vault-Tec would want to have the suit provide any kind of armor. After all, all things considered, the Overseer WILL eventually be facing off with a large population of Vault-dwellers. It wouldn't be wise to give the residents anything that makes them more resistant to Security's weaponry. That being the case, the Vault-suit is actually better armor than it should be.
