Sympathy for the Longs?

There are currently 9 mods that I've found which apply specifically to Marcy and Jun Long. 1 to make change their dialogue, 4 to shut them up, 2 to kill them and 2 to change Marcy's name to some rather... unkindly things.

 

I get the feeling people really don't like the Longs.

 

Personally I don't mind them too much. I feel for Marcy, especially. Imagine losing almost everything... Your friends, your son, probably most of your sanity... Then all the sudden here comes this hero out of nowhere to save the day. For everyone else. Too late for you, though! Tough luck, kiddo! Plus the only safe place to live forces you to watch the hero being idolized by the few friends you have left. It would be hard not to resent the main character at least a little. I kind of imagine my character understanding that, and letting himself be the outlet for her frustration. She snaps at him. She doesn't really mean it, but she can't attack the people who really deserve it.

 

That's my take on it, anyway.

 

Unfortunately they don't really fit in visually with the other improved settler mods. What I'd like to see is a mod that improves them a bit. Clean up Marcy's face, especially. Nothing drastic, just some minor cosmetic changes without altering their overall look too much. At least that's my preference. I'm not the one making the mod. :)

I feel like there were a lot of premises in the game that just didn't go anywhere, and that includes the Longs. I'd like to see a mod that actually makes them justice, and you get to help them through their grieving process. I just hate how many personal problems are shown to you and you're not given any opportunities to do anything about them. It feels as if the writing team had a big cool plan and they were just told "no cut half of it and give us more going around clearing random ruins from random bugs"

My take is the Longs may very well have something to do with the DLCs to come. If you're just looking for a quick cosmetic job, use the console to change their looks

1. Open Console, select Jun or Marcy. An ID should appear in the center of the screen.
2. type tai [iD]. This will turn off their AI processes temporarily, take this time to center them in your screen.
3. type slm [iD]. This will bring up the showlooksmenu/ character generation screen.
4. Exit console. Make any changes you'd like.
4. Re-enter console. type tai [iD] again to turn them back on.
