I have recently begun to MOD Fallout 4 and am having a lot of difficulty with load order.

I have been banging my head against my keyboard for the past couple hours trying to figure out how to get LOOT working. I have even been searching reddit, google, and any forum I can for the answer. None of which seem to work.

Can anyone please give me a step by step (im talking barney style) guide on how to get this done.

Thank you very much and I appreciate your time

.

as a side note i am a student at Full Sail University for Computer Animation!

WILL AID WITH 3D MODELLING FOR GUIDE!!!

Thanks again all!!

Have you checked your settings? Cause it looks like it's trying to read for Skyrim, not Fallout 4. Open LOOT, click on the 3 little dots in the top right hand corner, go to settings and check that A) It's actually detected Fallout 4, and If it has, that the Default Game option isn't set to Skyrim. If it's set to AutoDetect (which mine is, which works fine) try to switch it to Fallout 4. Also while you're in there, if it's found Fallout 4, make sure it's actually pointing to the right installation path.

Oh and once you do get it up and running you will get a very similar error message saying something along the lines of "liborder failed to set loadorder ..." etc. This is normal. Just click okay on that message and hit "Apply" again and it will sort it. But first, get it to stop trying to read Skyrim. :p

That's the normal error message for LOOT, as I said hit ok, and then apply again.

The crashing when using the workbenches is most likely caused by LOOT sorting some mods in and order they generally disagree with (LOOT will not give you a perfect load order, it's not capable of that, it simply gives you a place to start). Track down any and all item, item crafting, and crafting related mods you have and make sure you have everything in the order the authors recommend, along with any compatibility patches needed.

If that doesn't solve your problems you're going to have to start disabling mods (or disable all and then re-enable them one by one) to find the culprit.

Also I am sorry you are having these issues, Load Order optimization/tinkering is one of the less fun aspects of using mods I'm afraid.
