StarMystyk
Behold, children! The chron-o-john! Err, I mean the Shadowed PA Paint. And yes, it actually counts as shadowed and muffled. Bearing in mind that you're still stomping around in a clunky metal suit, so don't expect to be a master ninja in it. I think I nailed the Enclave Power Armor look pretty well. What do you think?Nice! After looking at some others (prior to your upload) there wasn't really anything that I liked. Until now :)Thanks for releasing it :)
Moraelin
And now there's a Shadowed Paint Job for the T45, T51 and T60 too, for those who prefer those. Darker than the X-01 one, since I felt that one was maybe a tad too reflective for basically ninja armor. Please do comment on whether these look worse or better or whatever. I won't bite. (I might ask Dogmeat to, though;))
robhartman9
I will give them a go. Your X-01 Shadowed armor is my favorite mod to date. I will hold off on messing around with the Recycleactor command. I read in the wiki if you use that command on a power armor frame you found it will send it back to the location you found it with leveled pieces. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds like if you found T-51 at a location where it could have been X-01 but you were too low level you can recycle it. then use player.moveto <same item ID> Edited January 29, 2016 by robhartman9
robhartman9
I am starting to get some idea on how long it takes to make some of these mods. I downloaded the old GECK for F3 and FNV and started doing the Bethesda tutorial. I have only been able to do the first couple of stages in 3 days. I was able to load a save in FNV and use the COC command to take my PC and Boone (NPC) into vault 99. Its like the institute underground and you can only get there by teleporting. Navmesh and world placement are the next couple of stages in the tutorial. Its going to take several days just to do the basic tutorial. Can I use any of the stuff I make with the old GECK in Fallout 4?
Moraelin
Probably not. The data structure seems to be very different from the Fallout 3 or NV data. There seems to be some common ground with Skyrim, though. But anything more than very simple edits of global variables or such with the Skyrim CK, will probably crash FO4 hard. You can use FO4 edit though, for making items and such, though. Just don't try making a map with it. Not that it's not possible, mind you, but it's one of those things that work better visually than by the numbers. I will give them a go. Your X-01 Shadowed armor is my favorite mod to date. robhartman9
I don't think I know enough about this stuff to use the current fallout 4 edit. I think I will wait for the GECK to come out before messing with FO4 on my own. I just hope the new stuff is similar so practicing on the old one isn't a waste of time I have one of the legendary mod makers and I used it to make your shadowed power armor almost indestructible. I didn't think I needed the parts crafting mod as all my character saves have a surplus of the stuff anyway Will I have to buy photoshop and learn how to use it or is there a cheap and easy way to edit textures? Moraelin
Well, you can also try GIMP, which is free. Although it's UI is a bit... shall we say... by nerds, for nerds. It's what I use, in any case. Learning how to use it is a given, in any case.
Moraelin
BTW, I just wanted to add that for PA paint jobs, there is a paint compiler tool that puts it all together for you. So if that's what you want to make, you may not have to learn to use FO4Edit. The problem though is that for everything else but the special ones, meaning faction-specific and flame variants, the texture is actually using palette indexes instead of colours. So basically it's easier to recolour by editing the palette than by editing the texture. I made a completely custom palette for the shadowed T45, T51 and T60, but you might be able to just change the colours of the existing palette if you don't need drastic changes. For other materials or weapon parts, well, it's not as hard as it probably sounds. Just use my shadowed synth armour material or my silver SMG receiver as a template. And feel free to ask questions, if you have them.
robhartman9
I want to make a Leeloo outfit for my Leeloo character. I found an existing outfit called corset in the game that is fairly close to start with. Its not that important just something to mess around with so I can wait for the GECK to try that. BloodyStigmata
I'm on my third character now, and I've been carrying over my previous character's levels with the console each time I restart as sort of a new game+ thing I have going on. From what I've seen so far, starting at level 107 before exiting the vault, most of the early suits have bits and pieces of x-01 on them. There are some T-60 as well, but most are X-01. The frame in the shipping container that I think is south of the lighthouse past the bridge I'm pretty sure had full Mk.III x-01 on it. I haven't found any T-51 or T-45 this time around.
