The short version of my problem is that my skyrim launcher crashes whenever i try to auto detect video hardware, and whenever i try to load skyrim using any of the preset video options, from both the launcher and skse, it says that my display doesn't support the selected resolution.

i have re-validated my skyrim game on steam and it tells me that there is one missing file that will be added,

i have an asus laptop with a geforce 745m graphics card, i'm not good with hardware so i don't know much more than that but if there is something else that you need to now then i can look it up.

This all started when i decided to play skyrim again after a long break. I created my new load order and hoped into the game the way i always have, but noticed that i was losing frames when i wasn't before, even though i had more mods before. After about 5 minuets the game crashed and i gave up on it and started playing my xbox. Now, about 2 months later, i went to try and fix the problem. the first thing i did since i really didn't want to uninstall any of the mods was that i deleted the ini file and then re-verified the game on steam. it told me that 2 files were missing and that they would be replaced. then when i opened up the skyrim launcher it tries to detect the video hardware and crashes, thus starting my current problem. now it only says that 1 file is missing when i validate the game, and the ini file is there, i checked. If anyone can help then thank you in advance.

Ok, so it's been a few days without a reply. I'm gonna try completely redownloading the whole game from scratch.

I feel like this may be a computer hardware problem and not a problem with the game, but I'm just gonna try and see.

Update: so after redownloading the game, it was able to set the video hardwear strings to high quality, but then it still said that my display doesn't support the selected resolution. I'm not sure what to do anymore, can anyone please help
