Will it run Oblivion

Recommended Posts

I hope this is the right section, because I'm desperate. AS I'm going to university, I was given a laptop, an Hp.

These are the specifications of my Laptop

Will it run Oblivion? Otherwise what can I do to improve it? I was thinking of buying a new CPU unit and a new video card. Any suggestions (compatible with the laptop of course)?

You "should" be fine. More RAM would help a lot though. I would never suggest a Laptop for gaming though. To many restrictions for upgrading. The video card might be a little low power for what you need. But as long as you don't have texture packs or anything graphic intensive for mods. You will most likely be fine.

What part do you want to upgrade? Your processor is dual core so it should be fine. Your video is a little weak, but to upgrade that you need a new motherboard. You need more RAM, I would recommend 1 gig more. That's about all you need to run Oblivion.

Your wrong. Period. Laptops are not hard to upgrade. And won't cost you a fortune. Especially adding more RAM, RAM is the easiest way to make your computer run better and won't cost you a fortune. Motherboards are hard because that have to be for that specific laptop model. Other than that everything else is easy.

You'll definitely want a better graphics card to play it on anything above the lowest graphics settings- Oblivion uses a lot of video memory and RAM, but doesn't need as much power in other areas as many games. You'll want a 256mb graphics card, if its possible to get one, and 1Gb RAM (2Gb would be even better, but it's not essential- I only have 1Gb, and I can run it fine on medium graphics settings.) Apart from those two, you should be fine.

I video card that good on a laptop is expensive. It would also involve replacing the motherboard. Then, you have to make sure your old RAM is compatible. Along with your DVD drive, your hard drive, and anything else that is plugged straight into a motherboard.

Apparently, you forget that this computer is a Laptop. You can not put a regular video card in a Laptop. Laptops have built Mother Boards with built-in video cards.
