mkkm1234
Trust me when I say those guys are much better RPers than others who love to call themselves so, where people raged about they prevailed and RPed the problem. Made the game better for me and gave me a lot of ideas. Have a law degree? It may be forged. No crazy people dialogue? You just have experience in hiding it. And so many more like using PA all the time, not just for how powerful it is, but also for it need to be repair and charged all the time. When you check out the Skyrim builds you know what I mean. Voiced protagonist? Might had voice modulator implant (something similar to one in Project Nevada) due to some past ilness/to be better at social skills.Hell, you might even be a synth if you want. Father might have grafted original Shawn's memories into one to see if it is possible to move his own awarness to new body (makes sense since he has a cancer) and set you free to monitor if you trully are Shawn (he might have spent some time with original one after he defroze him, we have seen that an Institute is fully capable of manipulating synth's memories), that would explain why there are no hardcore needs (especially since it wouldn't be hard to implement them, compared to, for example whole stronghold building thing) and just how competent combatant you beacame. TL;DR: With right backstory you can play anything you want without too many logical problems.
Boombro
You get it! It seems some features were cut like karma and needs for some reason. Anyways, I can easily hunt, drink and sleep. Needs just reminds you to that. I go to a bar in DC and eat something then go to sleep till morning.
Warmaker01
My current character, Lv117 is oriented for ranged combat. However, she's unlocked and maxed all the crafting-related perks. There's a whole slew of modifications that look very interesting for both weapons and armors in a melee setting. I would imagine a properly spec'ed character backed up with drugs can do some devastation. If that melee character is wearing Power Armor? I can easily see a player character acting like a bowling ball smashing down pins.
Moraelin
Considering that cooking and eating is pretty much the easiest way to get your health back up (yum! fried mutt!) I don't think I really need much more reminder than that
Karstedt
Anyone tried the barbarian approach on survival? Since you can't quickly replenish health, I think that would make it nearly impossible. You'd definitely have to be a junkie.
Boombro
There is sword with poison and bleed. You may not need chems with it.
oldspice2625
Usually I start a playthrough on hard, then go up to Veryhard on level 6 or so, then survival on 10 and above just to get established, so I'd be interested in anyone having a dedicated run from the get go as pure melee, non stealth at all. Of course, all of the opinions here otherwise are valuable and I appreciate them. I don't mind being a junkie, since I have never used drugs outside of my playthrough in this game, I thought that they would be too detrimental to have addictions that would be annoying to counter, always having to go to the doctor to get the addiction removed. But with Refreshing Beverage being like a panacea that's pretty cheap to have on hand as well as easy to get rank 2 chem resistant, makes me want to try out Chems. PyschoJet is pretty decent :D. Some of the drugs have long buffs so it may not be as big a deal, but there are some that are short duration buffs with significant bonuses attached. Psycho Jet is one and having that buff doubled would be quite nice.
Boombro
In think the problem for some is having to use chems just to use melee and make it a viable build option, or power armor. Some just don't want to.
TakaraPRG
In think the problem for some is having to use chems just to use melee and make it a viable build option, or power armor. Some just don't want to.Early one it's a big boon. But later in the game it's unnecessary. Mostly Medx. And or Jet...psycho is of limited use if ya ask me. I've found the best early game melee weapon is a serrated combat knife. It's just so fast and the bleed stacks up so much you can really mess people up. You shouldn't have much of an issue using this. Plus if you have a high agility you can work on the perk that makes you harder to hit and have high damage resistances well sprinting. This got me to level 20 with minimal drug usage. That said it's always advisable to keep a gun handy just to give yourself time to heal damage in harder modes. You can break off and heal and pop in and out of cover.
