A coilgun or Gauss gun (not a rifle as the barrel is not rifled; named in reference to Carl Friedrich Gauss, who formulated mathematical descriptions of the magnetic effect used by magnetic accelerators) is a type of projectile accelerator consisting of one or more coils used as electromagnets in the configuration of a linear motor that accelerate a ferromagnetic or conducting projectile to high velocity.[1] In almost all coilgun configurations, the coils and the gun barrel are arranged on a common axis.

you do know rifle is also term for size of a weapon right 3

rifle

noun ri·fle
Simple Definition of rifle
  • : a gun that has a long barrel and that is held against your shoulder when you shoot it

  • not all rifles have rifling

as a gun implies it uses gases to propell a projectile but gauss rifle does not use explosive force to project uses magnetic force.

aka a rifle a shoulder mounted (can be naval size as well) weapon that is portable and to the real gauss it does have a barrel but not all rifles are rifled like most muskets are not rifled but are still rifles

A gun is a normally tubular weapon or other device designed to discharge projectiles or other material. The projectile may be solid, liquid, gas or energy and may be free, as with bullets and artillery shells, or captive as with Taser probes and whaling harpoons. The means of projection varies according to design but is usually effected by the action of gas pressure, either produced through the rapid combustion of a propellant or compressed and stored by mechanical means, operating on the projectile inside an open-ended tube in the fashion of a piston. Alternatively, acceleration via electromagnetic field generation may be employed in which case the tube may be dispensed with and a guide rail substituted.

All this over a name :-)

rifle:usually 20 inches long enough use average powerful caliber 1 mile it is portable in size not to long not to short

pistol: 8 inches or smaller perfect for close quarters compact can be concealed not to short where u need be close not to long where itd be complicated in small locations

machete: is considered a short sword but comes from knife family

bowie knife obviously is a knife but does not meet the blade length be considered a short sword

so yes lad there is a difference

knife and short sword two different varied by their characteristics as well rifle and pistol rifling is process of putting grooves into a barrel not all rifles have grooves a gun uses explosive combustion to project a material down barrel usually rifled one as goes down it spins also gaining grooves so may keep its spin

Before you speak, listen. Before you write, think. Before you spend, earn. Before you invest, investigate. Before you criticize, wait. Before you pray, forgive. Before you quit, try. Before you retire, save. Before you die, give.

(William Arthur Ward)

While i find trolling amusing at times, i think, perhaps you have taken this the wrong way.
