Flyingdebris
So, one thing that i've noticed so far about f04 is though some weapons you can basically rebuild from the ground up into something drastically different, others you can only really tweak a few meager things. Suffering from this is the Minigun. Poor thing only has some barrel swaps, a spinny bayonet, and a bent wire as an optional sight. Meanwhile pipeguns, shotguns, lasers, and combat rifles can replace mags, barrels, stocks, receivers, have a wide variety of sights, and muzzle attachments. Some mods have managed to add barrels that re-chamber the minigun to other ammo types, which is fine and all, but it doesn't truly solve the problem of not being able to really mix and match to make a unique weapon. Proposal Add more mod slots to minigun Ammo Drum: Regular (standard) Fast Reload (lower capacity, less weight, faster reload) High Cap (higher capacity, more weight, slower reload) Reciever Move all re-chambering mods to receiver slot Additional receiver types like powerful/calibrated/hardened/tuned/advanced/etc Weight increases drastically with damage output Barrel The 3 Vanilla barrels (no dmg modifier anymore) Double Barrel, much slower, more range, more accurate than tri barrel Grip Standard Stabilized (more weight, smaller Cone of fire, more AP to fire in vats) Loose (less weight, larger cone of fire, less AP to fire in vats) Sight None Wire crosshair Prewar crosshair (properly machined ironsights, could be lifted off of the assault rifle) Glow Sights Reflex Sights Recon Sights NV Sights Muzzle None Shredder Compensator (less recoil, less range, more weight) Heat Shield (slower spread increase, more weight)
lest120
a tri barrel is 2 times more accurate than single double or more weapon usually only comes in 5.56, 308, and 50 caliber so not many recievers, regular drum would be attached very smallspeed one would be procted ammo belt that comes from ammo pack from ur back heavy one would be vehicle or ground mounted as 300-400 pounds is to much for any soldier to really move quickly while carrying 80-100 pound mini gun regular grip be grip without finger grooves stabilized would be grooved and loose would be as stubby a sight on mini doesnt exist for ground troops as it is a light machine gun its meant spit out as many bullets possible vehicle and ground mounted would have a sight its quite pointless even put a muzzle on it as it is not a assualt rifle nor a sniper rifle shredder is just a melee upgrade and heat shield would just be in front where muzzles are protect user from burning gas leaving the barrels. Flyingdebris
Well the (videogame) logic behind the heatshield is to keep the barrels cooler and thus slow the wear that would affect accuracy. I am aware that it normally takes a lot more than a burst for barrels to start to wear out from heat warping, so it's not realistic. But IMO it would be neat looking to have an optional visible heatshield shroud on the barrels, and having something that slows the rate at which shooting increases your COF, would be handy. Compensators or things that look like them already exist on RL miniguns, granted they might just be flash hiders,http://www.warboats.org/stonerordnotes/Mini-gun%20R3%207.jpgthough APPARENTLY suppressors exist...for some reasonhttp://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y164/RavenmadNBS/normal_Minigun_Suppressor_Front.jpg As for the sights. Granted, they are often unnecessary, but still, it would be neat to have considering real life version exist. And while miniguns are wholly impractical for someone to carry around one unmounted and sights for them would be useless, they become a bit more plausible when you have power armor doing the lifting.
