JuJooGuppy
Hello all!,So, I searched around and didn't see my specific issue, so thought I would see if you guys had any ideas or if anyone had the same issue before.Basically, I built a new PC for my lady, and it runs great,.. but . The first time you open launcher and click play, the game goes to a black screen and freezes. The odd thing is, after closing it down and relaunching, almost every time it starts up the 2nd time perfectly fine. Sometimes,r arely, it takes 3 tries. Its launched the first time only a handful of times, its almost always the 2nd tryDrivers and such are all up to date, no beta patch since its buggy. Does have mods, though the mods are all stable and fine when playing (She also has the same mod setup as me and it works fine on my end, too, not that it matters much).Any ideas at all why it would do this? Seems odd that it starts and runs fine the 2nd try. Thanks for any help / feedback,
DeeRez
Had a similar issue when i built my PC at the beginning of the month, turned out there was an issue with my motherboard and memory compatibility. I had to download the latest bios for it, since then I've had no problems. Giving a spec list of the PC might help others to come up with suggestions too. SharraShimada
The issue sounds like there is a problem with memory allocation and/or data-access from the hard disk. Have you defragmented the harddrive after setting up everything? Maybe the disk is so fragmented, fo4 can´t load everything in order, and therefore goes into some kind of timeout on loading.Further you have to install every tool, your mainboard needs. For example memory-drivers, raid-drivers (even if you dont run an actual raid, but a single hard drive, but its connected to the raid-device)Also USB-drivers for your board. USB may run fine, but maybe there is a slight problem, so fo4 thinks, there is something wrong with the mouse or so. Do you experience similar behavior with other games? The optimal comparison would be skyrim or fallout new vegas, because they use the same engine (older version of course).
Gilibran
On a newly build PC defrag should not be an issue. Is steam connecting correctly either online or offline, this sometimes delays startup through NMM and can cause it to stay in black screen. Also do a "Fallout 4 black screen fix" search. It can have a lot of different causes, start with drivers for your motherboard as mentioned above though. Most likely culprit for problems on a newly build PC
JuJooGuppy
Thanks for the feedback on it,For the record we don't use NMM, I do everything manually. She is using a direct copy of my mod list/ mods / etc, which I just reinstalled on my own PC after reformatting it today, and it works fine, so I am not leaning towards mods, but a driver / software or possible hardware issue, as well. I am going to do some testing on it tomorrow most likely when I have time, as I have a couple of ideas to test now. :) I will follow up with more info after I try a few things, if I am able to resolve it, I will also post how / what it was for future referrence. Thanks again
