Sketchy77
Recently Bethesda has been releasing/publishing a lot of new games. Brink, Rage, Hunted, Fallout, they are chock full of it.I was doubtful at first, but the more I think about it, the more I worry I'm right. After reading Alduins wall Found HERE i am starting to think that all the games in the Elder scrolls series have lead up to this point. The wall shows each part of the prophecy, events that occurred in all the previous elder scrolls games, which have marked Alduin's return. If all the games ARE leading up to this one game, what are the chances they will make a a new one afterwards. While I would love to see Bethesda try something new, particularly a new RPG series, not at the cost of the Elder Scrolls. Thoughts? Fixed your link... A double http:// can lead to pass through a malware site... Might want to watch for that and I would advice anyone who clicked it previously to run a scan. -Vagrant0
AurianaValoria1
Hmm...it's definitely something to think about. I was worried that might happen, too, when I found out what you mentioned about all the Elder Scrolls games leading up to Skyrim. But the more I thought about it, the more I was convinced that they wouldn't drop the series. It just sells too well. I think they'd be shooting themselves in the foot if they halted the Elder Scrolls now. Besides, Skyrim seems to be drawing a lot more people in to the series. More players = more money.

Kazakovich
I don't think we need to worry, unless something somehow manage to topple the entire studio. And that seems rather unlikely, since if Skyrim is as good as it looks, it will sell very well indeed. It might not top the revenue they received from Oblivion, since that game gained lots of attention by both being one of the first greater games available for the 7'th generation, and being released in the wake of the Lord of the Rings-films and thus riding the new fantasy-wave. But many, many people will be prepared to pay for it. Yes, all the previous events in the Elder Scrolls canon leads up to this game, but I really don't think they had Skyrim planned out back when they were making those games. I don't think we need to worry about that, it's simply a nice idea they decided to include in this installment, to give the story more weight. Now, I'm usually not that thrilled about sequels. I still refuse to touch Bioshock 2, since it has no business being a sequel, since the first game and its story stood up for themselves perfectly fine alone. But Bethesdas philosophy on sequels are "wipe the slate and begin again, take what we learned and improve what we got", which is really the way any followup to anything should be treated. Thus, there is no danger that the Elder Scrolls series is going to stagnate, as so many properties have before. Unless the Daedra invade our realm and demolishes the entire studio, I think it's safe to say they will keep this series alive and fresh. And if that happens, we will have much greater problems to worry about. (Like how to trap my very own Xivilai, for instance...)

stars2heaven
Aren't there interviews in which Todd Howard states that he looks forward to exploring new places in Tamriel after skyrim? Aside from that, I don't think Alduins wall serves as a reason to think skyrim will be the last. It contains the prophecies that lead up to the events in skyrim. That does not mean that there aren't other prophecies or other things that might happen elsewhere. Also...these games make Bethesda big money. They'd be really dumb to stop making them. (unless skyrim is a flop, then it could happen. But what are the chances of that?)
ITOS
There is always a new crisis to be averted, regime to overthrow or artefact to recover. Sure, you save the world from destruction but for how long? Maybe TES games won't come out as often but I doubt the franchise will die after Skyrim. Genzel
Even if they announced it would be the last elder scrolls game, it wouldn't be the last. I recall everyone saying Halo 3 was going to be the last halo, and I think it was even officially announced at one point. They have made 3 halo games since and another is in the making. No game developer is going to end a profitable series.
hector530
^^^^^ it's like bioware saying mass effect 3 will be the end of the trilogy but EA has said for years now that they won't stop at a trilogy. in the end bioware is gonna listen to its slavemaster and make mass effect 4 next year. Also I was really disappoint bunige made another halo even if I think reach was the game they ever made. I wanted to see if bungie could make a decent game that isn't halo. Also elder scrolls have SO many things to explore and storys tell for it to end at skyrim
