Navmeshed Invisible Rugs That Go Anywhere

So, it would be great to see a mod that makes rugs navmeshed and also invisible so we can plop them down over non-navmeshed trouble areas provided by some other mods where the navmesh isn't great or even available. I've tried placing regular rugs over an area clearly not navmeshed, and rugs aren't apparently. Any ideas?

Sadly your idea is wishful thinking. AI navigation is utterly broken in FO4, and far, far worse than that seen in Skyrim. The idea of user crafted settlements breaks navigation utterly. Your companion only follows you because it uses a 'trick' where it tracks your immediate movement paths and replicates them.

 

Dynamic or JIT (just-in-time) navmesh concepts can't work at all well in an engine as rubbish and dated as that used in FO4 (and earlier games). Navmeshes in the engine don't really work as you suggest, even if Beth tries to put navmesh hinting data into the elements used to build settlements.

 

The BEST solution is for external tools to allow new navmesh data to be created for your settlement outside of the game, so when you return to the game your settlers can finally move around properly. Better would be locational path hinting via scripts, so your 'little computer people' could have a proper day/night cycle and use things like user crafted bars/pubs.

 

I think Beth will have at least one DLC that prefabs properly navmeshed floor plans for partial structure builds that allow the player to otherwise customise the space. But anything beth does will be a poor hack, given the problems the engine has.
