bzald
Hello Nexus, first I do enjoy your site a lot BUT there are a few issues with the ads and one major issue I just had. The first two issues are one) some ad's do tend to slow down the website depending on how things work, I don't mind that too much. Second) ad's that become to loud for there own good again not something that happens a lot. Yet it the next one that I will not tolerate under no reason what so every there was a banner at the bottom a money making opportunity. Again nothing that raises red flags until I tried to reload the ad from my end, and it started to play again. No issue there but then my browser spawned a new tab on it own that i quickly closed and then put up adblock on site asap. I'm not saying the banner was trying to hijack my browser still I do not take the chance when it comes to that, I would at least like to see the site. Oubliette
Nexus uses a third party for their advertisements and isn't directly responsible for what ads play. They depend on users to report ads properly so that they can then go to their advert supplier and have the offending ads removed from rotation. To properly report an offensive or dangerous ad (here's a clue, all three that you mentioned would probably be good candidates for reporting) please use the following steps. Screenshoot the ad and the page it displays on.Click "Contact Us" at the bottom of any page (this assures that the issue goes directly to Dark0ne who is the only one that can contact the ad company or make any other necessary site based changes).Link the screenshot you took, the page you were on and write down any and all reasons for your reporting the ad.Hit send.Be patient, Dark0ne takes ad complaints very seriously but do remember he's dealing with another corporate entity and that sometimes takes time. Thanks for your understanding and co-operation. Edited January 21, 2016 by Oubliette
Thandal
Annnnnnd.... For a nominal, one-time contribution of £1.29, (~US$1.99) which is less than a single cuppa at Starbucks, you can become a Supporter of the Nexus and enjoy it completely ad-free forever.
Cliven
For the record, I do not as much mind ads for the non-supporter set, but ads that REMOVE ONE FROM THE PAGE BEING VIEWED are a bit of a bother. Some ads occasionally don't allow page back, instead requiring closing the tab and using History to get back via a new tab (varies; some ad pages do allow for it, tho as many will cycle you thru ads even if they eventually allow returning). Seems to be happening quite a bit. Not sure how long this has been going on, as I had let my friend use this PC for some time while I was away and not concerned w/TESV, but the PC is bug-free and only Nexus seems to do this, so I assume the embedded ads here are the factor. I can 100% see and get behind the reasoning in having ads. Well and good! Ads that entirely pull you from the page are extortion, however, plain and simple. Perhaps a discussion w/the ad vendor is in order? Note that the pages redirected to seem to be nearly random, and even include Facebook, so I am guessing it is a central ad hub that is responsible, and not the end sites I am redirected to. Might be onclickads DOT net as that seems to be the common bridge when I try to return to Nexus. Edited January 21, 2016 by Cliven
DrakeTheDragon
The ads on the Nexus are provided by a third party ad provider and selected based on the region the viewer is in, and maybe also other things. Chances for somebody else to see the same ads you are seeing are rather small, chances for staff to know the particular ad you're talking of are 0. That's why suggested "discussion w/the ad vendor" will require all the steps listed by Oubliette in order to have an effect. If you do as you were told, said discussion will take place. Though like was said it might still take some time for the ad vendor to remove the offending ad from their rotations. edit: ...or do as Thandal told you. I'm always missing that part.

I'm always missing that part. WHICH ads? There are dozens to all sorts of sites, some of which (Facebook) are nearly certainly not responsible for the forced redirects. That's the problem. I can ss the intervening split second while the ads change from one to another, but am unsure as to which one is the actual root cause. As to point 2, any ads that actively pull you from the page are beyond the pale for this sort of thing. It is one thing to say "money to remove ads", and quite another to say "money to remove ads that remove you from our site entirely." I suspect it unlikely that Nexus staff are OK w/their site actively being pulled out from under users, paid or otherwise. Thandal
<snio> I suspect it unlikely that Nexus staff are OK w/their site actively being pulled out from under users, paid or otherwise. True. But without being informed which adverts, specifically, are doing this... there's not much we can do about it. :geek:

I had one page open for hrs in the background and no redirect, and now 3 for 10 or 15 mins w/o redirect. I will try again tomorrow when more awake to see if it has halted entirely, in which case I will note it and just send you the SS'd addys I presently have. Ironically, I did a cache refresh the day BEFORE this happened, when I got back. Perhaps I should have left it alone! /Sigh. bben46
It is also possible your browser has been hijacked by some malware that redirects through their own ad site - Conduit is probably the worst. And ASK which is somehow considered legal does this as well. At one time ASK was a ligit program, but now it is nothing but garbage. I have had a lot of luck using a small FREE program called JRT to clear out Conduit type infections. But ASK is, as I said somehow considered ligit even though they hijack your browser, add a tool bar, track everything you do, and slow things down considerably. It is auto installed by many free programs and free games - it always has an opt out, but they hide it do you may have to scroll down or search to find it. I just cleaned ASK out of my sisters computer, and it took some searching to get completely rid of it. JRT is provided by MalwareBytes - home site https://www.malwarebytes.org/junkwareremovaltool/

Thank you while I did not see that option (maybe because I was running for my life at the time =P) I Will be contacting them over the course of the week and explaining what is going on and ask they clear it up soon. Because having even the shadow of a ad pretend that it hijacks your browser does not look good for most companies. Annnnnnd.... With that said I'm not against the idea since I'm paying for other said sites already. All because of what you said they started off legal then when black hat on you or just garbage, I use JRT as part of a suite of cleaning software for the pc. Funny thing is sometimes they do miss what is going on in the web browsers both firefox and chrome which is just a different headache for a different day =( =P. Edit: I did as Oubliette suggested and sent what i said here and a few more info to customer service you can close this post out if it helps.
