Mod Merging ("Only Group Records Can be Added to Files")

I've done a lot of searches on how I'm supposed to use FNV

I feel extremely stupid. I've followed by videos and ordered and numbered

instructions that people attested worked but i can't get it to work.

 

I either get the error: "Only Group Records can be added to files" immediately.

Or it wants me to add the entire New Vegas master into the file and then gives me

the "Only Group records can be added to files"

 

I also need to know what I can and can't merge

apart from the obvious esp modules of large mods
