devinpatterson
Would it be possible to use a human skeleton, animations etc as a new creature? In this case an android that wouldn't gib when blown apart.
davidlallen
Maybe somebody has "new" news on this, but it has been claimed to be possible before: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/314822-re-texturing-androids/
Quetzlsacatanango
It amounts to an armor that looks like an android, so sure it's possible.

Quetzlsacatanango
I'd have to look into the blood part, I'm sure there's a way. Other than that I'm not sure what you're asking for. Do you have an android mesh you want to use?
davidlallen
What both of us are looking to do is to have an NPC (not a creature), which has an unplayable armor that looks like a robot / android, but when it is dismembered there is no blood or human gibs like eyeballs. We have established that for NPCs, this is impossible; you can't alter the blood or gibs for NPCs. However, it has been suggested that if we copy *all* the NPC animations into a new creature directory, it "should work". I haven't tried this because there are so many animations. I suppose the OP is taking a second attempt to find easier suggestions.
Quetzlsacatanango
Have you tried putting the mesh into the \characters\_male directory, where all the animations live anyway? Then on your new creature, set that path as the skeleton path.
devinpatterson
And I have a small additional complication that my androids have to look basically human (other than some some minor damage showing electronics beneath a few missing patches of synthetic skin) and use human clothes and equipment. But other than that Davidlallen has summed up our situation well. Davidallen; I'll try your suggestion of copying over *all* the NPC animations into a new creature directory and see if that would work. Then I could select impact material metal from the blood tab on the android.
Quetzlsacatanango
If you are making it a creature I don't see how it can dynamically equip NPC armors. You also won't be able to give them individual faces via GECK, if that is important. Also, what doesn't work about the "blood" tab on the NPC screen? It lets you choose impact type and turn off blood... Edited April 20, 2011 by Quetzlsacatanango
