Ctd problems

Alrighty, so, I'm walking down the road near the river by Windhelm, I press the esc menu to save and, crash. There was a fight between villagers and some Rieklings going on nearby at the time, and a few chickens were walking around. Literally nothing else was happening, just crashed on esc menu. Any help that could be provided would be greatly appreciated, and I'll try to answer any questions.
