Meoix
Hey all, I wasn't completely sure where I should post this topic, so if it's in the wrong sub-forum I apologize.A multi-part minor set of issues I'm sort of dumping at once (sorry), nothing game breaking as I'm still playing now, just annoyances, but I do hope someone could point me in a direction for one or more issues. I'm replaying Oblivion for the first time in several years on my new PC.I have a GTX 980ti, 24Gb DDR4 RAM, 3.7Ghz i7, SSD boot and install drive, Windows 7 Pro, all latest drivers as of this post (Before you say this is overkill, I use this machine for 3d modeling and programming). I reinstalled the game completely as well as a couple of mods one by one all through NMM. This is when I noticed the first issue, NMM and Oblivion. Here are the mods I have (plus a couple of texture packs for face and general enviornments), I used the latest Loot to sort them:I also have a few obse plugins: Fast Exit, Oblivion Reloaded, Pluggy, Enhanced Camera, and better cities helper.oblivion.esmAll Natural Base.esmOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esmBetter Cities Resources.esmCM Partners.esmUnofficial Oblivion Patch.espOblivion Citadel Door Fix.espUOP Vampire Aging & Face Fix.espDLCShiveringIsles.espDLCBattlehornCastle.espDLCBattlehornCastle - Unofficial Patch.espDLCThievesDen.espDLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch.espDLCThievesDen - Unofficial Patch - SSSB.espDLCMehrunesRazor.espDLCMehrunesRazor - Unofficial Patch.espDLCVileLair.espDLCVileLair - Unofficial Patch.espDLCHorseArmor.espDLCHorseArmor - Unofficial Patch.espDLCOrrery.espDLCOrrery - Unofficial Patch.espDLCSpellTomes.espDLCSpellTomes - Unofficial Patch.espDLCFrostcrag.espDLCFrostcrag - Unofficial Patch.espKnights.espKnights - Unofficial Patch.espAll Natural.espScroll of Spellmaking and Enchanting.espAll Natural - SI.espP1DkeyChain.espxulRiverEthe.espxulTheEasternPeaks.espxulCloudtopMountains.espxulAncientYews.espxulBravilBarrowfields.espBetter Dungeons.espOblivionReloaded.espxulLushWoodlands.espxulCheydinhalFalls.espxulSilverfishRiverValley.espxulBlackwoodForest.espxulBeachesOfCyrodiilLostCoast.espxulColovianHighlands_EV.espxulChorrolHinterland.espxulArriusCreek.espxulSnowdale.espxulAncientRedwoods.espxulJerallGlacier.espxulEntiusGorge.espxulCliffsOfAnvil.espBeautiful_Women_NotSoNice_Bonus.espHandsome_Gents_Bonus.espHandsome_Gents_Vampires_50.espBeautiful_Women_Vampires.espBeautiful_Women_SI.espHandsome_Gents_SI.espHandsome_Gents_Vampires.espBeautiful_Women_NiceOnly.espBeautiful_Women_DB_Addon.espHandsome_Gents_Addon.espHandsome_Gents_DB_Addon.espBook Jackets Oblivion.espxulTheHeath.espxuldarkforest.espxulAspenWood.espxulBrenaRiverRavine.espxulFallenleafEverglade.espOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul - Knights of Nine.espBetter Cities .espKyoma's Journal Mod.espBetter Cities - IC Imperial Isle.espxulRollingHills_EV.espxulSkingradOutskirts.espxulStendarrValley.espxulPantherRiver.espxulImperialIsle.espxulPatch_AY_AC.espBetter Cities - All Natural.espBetter Cities Chorrol - Knights of the Nine.espBetter Imperial City.espEnchantmentRestore.espEnchantmentRestore_Wells.espScriptIcon_Replacer.espEnchantmentMastery.espCM Partners Extra NPCs.espFastTravelDoubleFaceFix.esp24HrArenaAliveV2.espCM Partners.espBetter Cities Full - OOO.espBetter Cities Full.espBetter Imperial City - OOO.espCM Partners More NPCs.espCM Partners More NPCs NE.espRealSwords - Khajiit HI v1.3.espRealSwords - Khajiit LO v1.3.espOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.espCM Partners Special NPCs.espCM Partners Marker NPCs.espSounds of Cyrodiil.espSounds of Cyrodiil - Thieves' Den Add-On.espSounds of Cyrodiil - Mehrune's Razor Add-On.espSounds of Cyrodiil - KOTN Add-on.espCM Partners NPC NE.espCM Partners NPC.esp I have the latest (as of this post) version of NMM, and it doesn't seem to like Oblivion mods anymore. A lot more crashing during installation (which causes faulty installs and I have to manually uninstall the files). Many mods like Better Cities caused NMM to consistently crash if I tried to install it, OOO was the same way. I eventually only used NMM to install the simple, unscripted mod installs like Arena Alive. Another issue that has been cropping up is the crashing on loading certain cells (sometimes). That is very little information I know but I can't find a discernable pattern. Whether it's Shivering Isles or The Captain's Cabin in Dunborrow Cove of Thieves Den DLC. The crashing was more often when I had auto-save turned on so I turned that off. I can brute force my through these rare occurrences by saving closer and closer to the trouble spot. Once it crashes, I'll load the most recent save and often I can proceed on my merry way blissfully hacking my way into the Deadlands of Oblivion without more crashing. I wonder if its because of an issue with the textures loaded in RAM? I just used a 4gb memory awareness patcher on Oblivion.exe (yes I made a backup) to see if that helps, I'll let you know if it does, otherwise assume not. Finally, an addendum of sorts to my prior mentioned issue. I've had two crashes thus far on my 12 hours of playthrough, these were special crashes in the fact that they happened as I saved. I loaded my prior save and every time I tried to save after loading it subsequently crashed. I had to keep loading prior saves (playing Bethesda games as long as I have, you learn to keep a few GB, yes Gigabytes, worth of backup saves on hand for your playthroughs for just these sorts of issues) until I found one a bit of a ways back that finally did not have any issues with me saving. It was like my save got a weird corruption after that point on that caused crashing while saving. This happened a second time. As with the previous set of crashing I can't see any obvious pattern with locations, quests, armor, or etc, so I believe it's another behind the scenes type issue. I apologize for the long post, I hope someone is willing to assist with one or more of these issues. People can debate on which is the better game, Morrowind, Oblivion, or Skyrim. Personally, I just think they're all awesome games with their own set of unique merits that shouldn't be ignored. Thanks all, I can't believe I've been here 8 years already. I know I'm a pretty quiet member sometimes only coming out to either complain, post a small picture, or etc, but you guys have done some pretty awesome work and have been a great modding community. Edit: As I got into the Shivering Isles the crash on save and even random crashing started to become far more frequent. I decided to try Wyre Bash and it's remove bloat from save function. This seems to have worked very well for me thus far. This may lie some of the issues with the crashing I am having, save bloating leading to save corruption?
