Anyone else have glitches with Bleed Me Dry/ Vault 22?

I ran into some glitches when I went to Vault 22 for the 4 quests: There Stands the Grass (NCR), Still in the Dark (BOS), I Could Make You Care (Veronica) and Bleed Me Dry (Red Lucy/ Thorn).

I have the Unlimited Companion mod (as well as the Companion Sandbox Mode and Unlimited Companion Wait Time mods), and took Veronica and Cass with me. I left Boone and ED-E at the Lucky 38 on wait mode, but both of 'em showed up when I entered the vault's main entrance section (ie the section after entering the vault from the wasteland). I sent them both back to the Lucky 38.

Most of the time when using the elevator or going from cell to cell (I think that's what you call it - when the screen blacks out going through a door), either Cass or Veronica wouldn't show up on the other side. Had to go back and forth a few times to get the missing one back.

When I got to the tunnel where you find the Giant Mantis eggs, I noticed that the Bleed Me Dry quest was missing from my Pipboy and there was no longer a map marker for the Thorn. So there was no egg pod at the place where all the Giant Mantis's hang out. After finishing everything else in the vault I went back and "rediscovered" the Thorn, talked to Red Lucy and was able to trigger the Bleed Me Dry quest again. (Thank goodness, as it's one of my fave quests.)

I left Veronica and Cass waiting at the Thorn and went solo back to Vault 22 (Red Lucy apparently doesn't accept console-generated eggs), but Cass showed up at the same place Boone and ED-E had before. I just let her tag along, picked the Giant Mantis egg pod that was now there, and was able to bring the eggs back to Red Lucy to continue Bleed Me Dry.

Weird, huh? Does all this sound like a companion mod issue or just a glitch in the game? (Or maybe a corrupted save or something?) I've been to most if not all other vaults and haven't had any problems

This is a glitch in the game re: Vault 22.

Vault 22 is a wierd place and in particular using the elevator inside there has been well known for a long time to cause companions to get warped back to you if they are waiting anywhere, including Lucky 38 etc. One page on Wiki recommended trying to go to Vault 22 if you ever lost a companion and could not find them because using the elevator sometimes would recover them :D

When you combine this with the Unlimitted Companions mod that would make things even more tricky. Having more than one human companion with this mod, I observed unpredictable follow behavior at times. For example my first (human) companion would wait in the Lucky 38 Casino but the others would follow me to the Penthouse to visit Mr House. I loved having several companions in addition to a bot, but the unpredictable following got a bit annoying cause I'd lose track of them, not realizing some had stopped following. So I haven't used it in quite awhile.

And I want to stress this is not because of the mod IMHO its because of how the game is implemented. A lot of internal companion stuff is intertwined inside the game: scripts, dialog, quests, etc. It's all stuff that any mod just has to live with. It is most likely thats why the developers only give us one companion at a time, there is obviously the ability in the engine to allow more but they probably could not get it to work to their satisfaction so they just set it to 1.

So yeah, Vault 22 has a game glitch :(

As for losing the Bleed Me Dry qeust, that might have been due to using the console to create those eggs but in regard to that I have no idea.

Thanks for the reply drakelvin. That answers my query/ confirms my suspicion about the vault 22 thing specifically, and also gives me some good insight into how companion mods work in general. Much appreciated.

The Bleed Me Dry thing... geez, I think I'll just chalk that one up to the mysteries of fallout. Cuz, thing was, I lost the quest before I console-commanded the mantis eggs. I only did that after re-triggering the quest and was just trying to avoid a return trip to vault 22. Crazy stuff.
