Wrong or missing voice actor

I'm completely missing the voice actor Ralph Cosham in my oblivion game. Jauffre, Shady Sam, Vincent Valtieri, all Breton males. I see some Youtube videos showing this, but no answers as to a cause or fix. I had a theory that it was the "No CD" Oblivion.exe file that I got off the web. I hate having my oblivion disk live in my cd player all the time so I thought I'd give this a try. Thinking this was the culprit, I completely uninstalled Oblivion, cleaned out the windows XP's registry and defragged. I re-installed oblivion (with mods) with the game running off the disk as the default and to my screaming frustration the problem is still there. The game wrongly uses Wes Johnsons voice rather than Ralph Coshams or has no voice at all in the case of the little fisherman outside of Weye. Anyone have any ideas other than shutting off one mod at a time?

I;'m having the same problem, in my case, I downloaded War Cry new dimension and it messed up the voice acting. You need to first isolate the mod thats causing the problem, usually its a mod that adds in races, so disable them and see if it comes back to normal. Once you've found the culprit, load it in CS, make sure its active, go to races, then go to the breton, down on the bottom right of dialogue there is a voice option, change it to "Breton", its probably set to something not breton. go to all the other vanilla races and see if they have the corresponding voices, change them if necessary. You should also check dlcshiveringisles.esp and see if its changed in there as well.

Which version of oblivion do you have?I mean, it's the English version or anoter language?I've also had problems with my Spanish oblivion after installing a few mods,but I solved them.It seems that in localized versions of the games, the folder with the audio has different names, and after installing english mods, it wont recognize those names, searching for the english names instead.

billypnats: I have beautiful people loaded, Chocolate Elves & Moonshadow Elves. I'll check these in the CS. I'm kind of a novice using the CS but I'll give it a shot.

Okay, I checked all the race changing mods individually in the CS with no results. The Corean race, Chocolate elves, Beautiful people & Moonshadow Elves are not messing with the Male Breton voice as far as I can tell.

I also unpacked my Oblivion_Voice1.bsa to see if the breton voices were right and they are correct in the bsa.

Hmmmmm...somehow the true breton voice is not being recognized and the imperial voice is being substituted. I also unloaded Verona bloodlines, Malevolent, Order of the Virtuous blood, Hoarfrost Castle, A brotherhood renewed, Thievery in the imperial city and all the race mods and still the voice is either missing or incorrect. Any other ideas?

There's only a male Breton voice available in-game. For female player characters the Imperial voice files are used.

I realize that Masker. It's the male voice that I'm having trouble with. I was following the advice given by a previuos post. Wes Johnson (male imperial voice) did the voice acting on many of the main characters in the game and then a decision was made by Bethesda to use Ralph Cosham to do all male breton acting instead. All the voice acting by Wes Johnson for the bretons is still in the game even though it's not being used. My game is using these old files rather than the male breton voice done by Ralph Cosham. I'm kinda shooting in the dark here.

I think I'm closing in on the problem. I found this titbit of info here. Based on this information, one of the mods I have loaded is looking for the breton male in another language. Seeing as how it's not finding it, it's defaulting to the male imperial.

 

Oblivion packages the voices like so: \Data\sound\Oblivion.esm\(race)\(sex)\. If I knew what language it was looking for I could rename the breton race folder to whatever "breton" is in the needed language and that should fix the problem. Problem is, how would anyone possibly be able to find which mod is causing the problem in addition to the language it wants. Any ideas?

If it's a custom mod with custom voices, it shouldn't affect vanilla content.I think one solution is to extract all breton voices from voices.bsa and the copy your breton voices to Data\Sound\Oblivion.esp\Breton\Male .That's what I done with my Spanish instalation, so now the voices work without a problem. Before copying them, take a look at the files you need to copy, if it does't work, you should delete those files, they take a lot of HDD.
