Lancer916
I've been through the whole TES Nexus file library looking for a realistic, medieval-era cuirass and suit to go good with another mod that added some Sallet-style helmets to the game. However, I have found nothing that comes even remotely close to a truly realistic suit of armour, save for one. Unfortunately, it borrowed the vanilla steel look instead of making it smoother and realistic. I know it's supposed to be detailed, but sometimes what is needed is a simple elegance rather than a fantastic one. Most armour mods I found were either re-skins of the guard cuirass or re-color's of glass/ebony/what-have-you. The closest thing perhaps to what I would like to see in the cuirass is perhaps best described as a polished-up, shiny version of the vanilla iron cuirass. Basically what I'm saying is please make a more streamlined, elegant steel armour set, preferably as a new item instead of a replacement. I may not like the vanilla steel, but some may like both. The vanilla steel set just forces way too much detail into places it doesn't belong. Here are what pictures I could find. I am aware that the French Dragoon Cuirass model is a little... off century-wise, but it provides a good enough example to follow, yes? http://www.kormax.com/images/910927.jpghttp://www.3rdcuirassiers.org/uniform/images/cuirass%20casque%20louis%20XIII.jpgAnd a really good full set at the bottom of the page here : http://www.myarmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?p=209876 Oddly enough, a google image search revealed a (replica) gothic German cuirass that looks suspiciously like the vanilla steel ... only much more shiny and polished. While I'm here, may as well, Perhaps a Gondorian soldier's armour would be nice too. And one for Numenorean/Arnor soldiers, too. PLZ! ^_^ And I also apologize if someone has asked this/these before, but there's no way I'm going through more than 600 pages just to see if someone has made a similar request. No way. Telyn
You might want to do a search on "Gondor" and "Numenor." I don't know if those will be what you wish for. I know I have seen a cuirass similar to what I think you want. I'm not much of an armor collector, so I am going to have to see if I can locate it again. If I can find it, I will post. Yes, sadly Google is mixed with way too much... shrapnel from the random of the Internet. I'm not sure what half of what I saw even was. However, do allow me to be a bit more specific.... Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how much unrelated crap ends up in a very specific search.Anyway... I'll try to provide a few pictures each...Ooh, looky here!Found a webpage with many pictures. How convenient. I'll try to find a couple more, though. Gondor Soldier : http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Human/Gondor/Armor.htm Third Picture down gives a good view of the gauntlets and greaves that go with it : http://wiki.lindefirion.net/GondorWarcraft Arnor/Numenorean/2nd Age Gondor Soldier : http://www.alleycatscratch.com/lotr/Human/Gondor/2ndAgeSold.htm ... That's the only really decent picture set I could find of that particular suit. Meh. Anyway, yeah. That covers the gist of it.
Telyn
Hmm, if you are interested in a Tolkien styled game, you might want to have a look at MERP. It's a full conversion in progress for Oblivion. I am not sure what their armour status is, but they are serious about Tolkien over there. Sorry the Gondorian and Numenorean mods here weren't close enough for you. I don't think we have that Boromir armour here. We do have a Boromir companion npc. It can be difficult to get requests for armour fulfilled, because making it is much more difficult and time consuming than making weapons. There a couple people here who do take requests and are capable of making those, but the only way to be absolutely sure of getting the armour you want would be to learn how to make it yourself. I'd love to see these, but I don't make armour yet.
Deleted1848331User
To get armor properly modelled and rigged, it can take up to a week or more. That's mostly the reason why armor doesn't get made often. The other part is not a lot of people do know how to make armor properly.
Lancer916
I understand entirely. I can honestly say that I couldn't even begin to understand the entire process. While there are a few really unique suits out there, I am getting a little tired of the more inventive ones being mash-ups and edits of vanilla equipment. Don't get me wrong, I know they all worked hard, but the results too often come out less than ideal. I just wish that there were more people capable of making really good, unique armours for this game. As for the Gondor and Numenorean armors, I'm not quite looking to have a total conversion of Oblivion, I would really prefer to just have the suits worked in, say, left in the bottom of a fort or ruin on an appropriately decorated altar or something. I did find one mod that added the Elven armor from LOTR, though I do forget what it's called, that left a hostile NPC outside of Sideways Cave with a journal you could loot from him explaining that a great treasure was in the cave somewhere. I have also become quite fond of the Anduril Reforged mod, which added a short questline and many of the existing mod armors to go with it. It justified Anduril's presence somewhat, noting in a journal that a foreign king had left his sword entombed somewhere in Cyrodil. That said, I am curious about how the MERP is going to come out. I will watch them earnestly.
