taurus3911
I'm new to DAO and have never added a mod to a game. I've downloaded the mods I want to add, but can't get them into the game. Can anyone point me in the right direction to have the mods work with a Mac? Or even better, how to do it? Do they work at all or is this a "you shouldn't have a Mac if you want to play" type thing? All I've found in troubleshooting is PC instructions.
Thandal
Welcome, taurus3911! The short answer is, "Yes, DA mods work on the Mac."The longer answer is, "To get DA mods to work on the Mac you have to adjust their installation/location to match the way the Mac stores/uses the DA files." See the third post under this topic on the BSN: "Toolset, patches, and mods for MAC version". There aren't many Mac-using players here on the Nexus, but there are a few. See these threads to get in touch with some of them:"Installing Mods","Modazipin Issues","Modding with Digital Mac Version". And for some help using ".dazip" mods, (even though those aren't a majority) see:"Modazipin". Good Luck!
taurus3911
Thanks! I'll try that. It's good to know it's possible.

taurus3911
Ok - So I've tried the options you recommended and not been successful at all in having the mods show up in the game. In the "Toolset.." info you recommended they say that the changes need to take place in a document (which I did), but how would that get the mod into the DAO application? I'm not a computer girl and am feeling really lost now. Is there any other help you can give me? :( Thanks Thandal
Thandal
Sorry you're having problems, taurus. You might want to take a look at this article: "Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies", but understand that there are... adjustments that you'll have to make to accomodate doing things on the Mac. Also, it would help if you told us exactly which mods you're trying to use.

Tikkidew
Saw this tutorial on MacRumors. Quote Change .dazip to .zip and open the file. This will make a folder, open that. Open the mod/Manifest.xml file, either with what OSX chooses or textedit. Select everything starting with the line that starts with , select all of that line. Copy. Duplicate the AddIns.xml file in the Dragon Age/Settings folder as a backup. Open the AddIns.xml file in Settings. Scroll to the bottom and paste just before the last line. At the start of where you pasted there should be a line with </AddInItem>, then the next line starting with <AddInItem> At the end there should be a line with </AddInItem>, then another line with </AddInsList> Save the file. Open the Contents folder in the mod folder. Put the folder in mod/addins into the Dragon Age/AddIns folder. Put the files in the mod/packages folder where it belongs. In the mod I was testing on I had to move the file mod/packages/core/data/qmt_package.erf to Dragon Age/packages/core/data. This part might always consist of moving just this one file, the three mods that I looked at all were this way. Fire up Dragon Age and go to Downloadable Content to see if it worked. Another poster added this remark: Thanks, that worked for the mod I tried. Got a little confused though, in case someone else got confused regarding the manifest file step, copy over from the <AddInItem UID="MOD NAME" line down to the </AddInItem> line into the Addins file. That seems confusing, hmm. :ermm:
