Reinstalling EVERYTHING!

Hi all,

I currently have the Direct2Drive version of the game and both expansions. As you all probably know, the D2D versions will not work with a lot of the mods; including OBSE. I really want to use mods like OOO and MMM, so I just got the retail hardcopy versions and I'm planning on reinstalling the whole game.

My question is, how do I go about that without wiping out my saved games? Is there a specific procedure on how to remove every trace of the game, including the mods that I've installed, but preserve the saved games?

Please let me know, thanks!

Your saves should be located in the My Documents/My Games/Oblivion. Back up these if you want to use them when you install Ob. When I re-installed Oblivion, none of my mods or saves were deleted, but then again, I don't know how it might be affected by the Direct2Drive Version. What I recommend? Backup your mods and saves, and re-install it. Then see if it works.

Thank you Septim!

I know this is pretty basic, but I'm not quite sure how to go about backing up my saves and mods. Would you just drag and drop the "saved games" onto the desktop, or is there something more specific that needs to be done?

Thanks again.

Drag and drop would work. I personally made a new file in the "My Games" folder labeled "Oblivion Saves" and copied everything to that. I've had to reinstall a few times and never lost a save file to that, but it never hurts to be careful.

No problem. Glad I could help.
